« stinkobinko : I'm a person who, most of the time, doesn't need much from other people. Circumstances in my life made it necessary to be like that. Unfortunately, when I do find myself in need, I tend to explode. and people are surprised and offended. It's not human to not need other humans. It f**ks you up. Sorry.
*hugs*

I'm still learning how to handle that too.

Not all guys are looking for a 'f**k toy', there are decent guys out there, someone will come along when you least expect it.

You stole my long handled spade, you f**k?

That is low. Real dirty.

And that's a real distinctive spade so when I see you using it, you're screwed.

I'd never dealt with ticks until moving to California. Now, all my pets get treated monthly.

Icky.

But, I highly recommend Front Line plus.

I recommend frontline too, just make sure you don't mix up the ones for dogs and cats, I've seen pets die from that mix up.

But also, no good treating your pets if they're getting re-infested from the house. Treat all their bedding, and your own house too. This will also help catch fleas at different cycles of their life, ensuring un-hatched eggs, which will hatch and re-infest, get taken care of too.

A one off treatment isn't the best, because eggs living on the animal can survive and hatch. Something like frontline gets reapplied every few months or so (I'm not sure how long) to ensure you keep the fleas at bay. If it is too expensive to keep reapplying it, do it maybe 2 or 3 times at least (In conjunction with treating the house) and you should have killed off all the different stages of fleas

Oh Humphrey. Why must you go after cables when I have bought you tons of things you can chew on? A cardboard castle, a nylabone, 2 wooden rattle toys, a lava rock, 3 paper towel rolls, another plastic dog toy I ended up giving to my parent's dogs, stuffed animals, a sea grass mat, a timothy hay woven lounger.... I love you but geez! I would buy you your own cable if I knew there were no toxins in them and you wouldn't swallow the plastic.

Just curious if we (as in taxpayers) are paying for the Obama's "date nights" in foreign countries and also for his wife and daughters to stay behind and site see after he has come home.

I highly doubt that the Mrs. and the 2 kiddies are going to fly home coach.

Perks of the office. I for one, don't mind at all.

A little (very little) bit like when cops put on their sirens to go through red lights. A small perk for the work they do.

have you tried putting a deterrent on the cables? like making a hot pepper paste and coating the cables. a bit messy, but a good shot at teaching the dog to stop that.

Agreed.

I could not imagine having every move I made and every outfit I wore and every word I spoke being scrutinized by frenzied media weenies.

I agree with bingo that travelling is a perk that comes with the job. Besides, it is not as though these are the only politicians who do this!

I prefer to fly under the radar myself!! ;)

“If you want to reach a state of bliss, then go beyond your ego and the internal dialogue. Make a decision to relinquish the need to control, the need to be approved, and the need to judge. Those are the three things the ego is doing all the time. It's very important to be aware of them every time they come up.”

It's not a bad job, actually.. The entire free world is kissing your ass and hanging on your every word. You wear a dress and the next thing you know, it's the best seller in every shop.

If that's what is important to you, then more power to you.

I don't particularly want ANYONE hanging on my every word or kissing my ass based on who I married.

Nor do I give a flying fig if anyone dresses like I do.

Things that ARE important to me? Spending private time with my husband. Being able to do the job I want to do.

No one seemed to complain about Bush taking his wife, nor the girls along. And he did, on ocassion. All presidents take their families along, Often time, there's a political aspect to it--helps reduce the tension, shows a personal side, blah, blah, blah.

The fact is, being the First Family is hugely stressful. Look at Clinton in his first year versus his last. Look at Bush in his first year, versus his last. Both aged FAR more in 8 years than is normal.

Would you pay that cost? Give up your personal life, give up choosing what time you're apart, give up living where you want, just for a few 'free' trips to Europe?
