My beautiful Sunday afternoon was interrupted by a trip to the hospital. I've been spotting since last night, and started to bleed heavily this morning.
Had an ultrasound and was diagnosed with placental praevia. The baby isn't in distress and it's only marginal, which is a good sign. My blood pressure is low, and I have to check it every few hours. And my OB put me on immediate bed rest for the next two weeks (at least).
I'm counting on Plimates to bring me plenty of interesting links to fill the hours of boredom I'm facing.

«restlesschicken : i didn't know that sort of thing happened outside of movies ... hope you weren't gushing gallons of blood, too.
did the bleeding stop?
I'm still spotting, but I was never gushing blood. If that were the case, I'd still be in the hospital. I have to monitor my blood pressure to make sure I'm not losing too much blood. If it gets too low, I get to have a transfusion.
My fiance and the kids and I were out all day yesterday. Shopping, the park, the movies, more shopping. I was on my feet moving all day and my OB thinks that could have started the heavy bleeding. As long as I stick in bed all day, I should be good.
You stay in bed, Sparkly. I am sure there will be plenty of good stories here to keep you entertained. Have you got some help if it is needed? I hope so. As for books, check the thread I started here I think you had even posted there. haha. At any rate, now is the time to be pampered. hehehe. Keep us posted.
I've got friends and neighbors and lots and lots and lots of family. My mother wants to move in with me, but I'm gonna make her wait and see if my condition worsens. Living with her will most likely cause more problems than it will solve.
And my fiance already made a Coldstone run for me DEP, but I may call on your medical advice next time I need him to do something, like scrubs the toilets.
