I discovered today that the thermostat in my house runs on 2 AA batteries.

How did I determine this, you ask?

Because it was chilly when I went home for lunch. It's been chilly each morning, but I kept thinking I was pushing covers off in the night, and that's why I was cold when I woke up.

So today, when I came home to find the pets huddling together, I checked the thermostat. "LOW BATT" the display read. After wrestling the cover off, and reading the instructions inside (which included how to take said cover off), I replace the batteries and the house was noticably warmer when I left to return to work.

No more nippy mornings!

I'm not sure why, but most of my submissions have disappeared. I think it's a bug rather than someone going through and somehow deleting them because there's no one high enough to do so, and there is no change in my karma level. Nevertheless, it is odd.

It happened at least a month ago - pretty much anything over 3 months old has semi-gone.

See the bug reporting thread for a little more.

I say semi as they can be brought back, one by one.

2Many gives instructions at the bottom of this thread if you come across any.

The house is now an appropriate temperature, and the pets have resumed their customary sprawl.

I realized i have 5 email accounts and only one person in my address book.
I went through guilt,
some anger,
a little Self loathing.
then i just got really sad and sulked around for a while.

The power had gone out at my house 3 times in the last week. This is annoying, since the fish tanks do not like no water movement. It also means that I've reset the clocks on the oven and microwave 3 times.

Why, on a clock that has no date feature, does it care if it's AM or PM? Do many people walk into their kitchen, see that the display says 1:22 and wonder if that's AM or PM?

-Sh*t is voted on?
-Sh*t happens but isn't eaten?

Any good ideas?

I always get really confused if i think about AM/PM. It's 12:00 that gets me.
I suppose i think about it too much..

I'm back from Florida. I did not, in fact, run into ANY of the "FLidiots" as I had feared I might.. :) I've been driving for 6 hours and I didn't get any sleep while I was gone, so I'm off to take a nap.

Glad to see that you have your priorities straight. Talk to the Plime, THEN take care of bodily needs.
