Nah, that just gets downvoted unless it fits in with the majorities view.

Plimes less a democracy and more a communist state now.

Plime: Where mob rules and individuals are "fools", should be the new Plime header.

*editz* What, still not in the - yet?

« muppetmaker : I agree that some things need to be addressed such as Power Posting and how Plime is not a competition, like some of us think it is...
By power posting I'm assuming ya mean huge volumes of posts in one day? I dunno, would ya explain that because I'm not sure what you mean.

I know there's a small number of Plimates who regularly and consistently post in the news section every day and get upvoted a lot due to people appreciating and enjoying the posts. Is that what you meant by power posting?

When you look at it though, if it wasn't for these people regularly and consistantly posting, Plime would pretty soon be boring because there's a large number of Plimates who very rarely post but instead choose to enjoy and comment on the "power-posters" submissions

Care to give an example of someone who "power posts" because I'm not fully sure I understand what you mean and an example would help.

Apparently, just disagreeing with people respectfully, will get one a buttload of downvotes.

I consider myself an older member here and it pains me that just speaking my mind because it doesn't go with the rest of the opinions, can get me downvoted.

True, but it's not the end of the world. I've seen that happen and have stepped in to point out that an unpopular opinion in a respectful tone need not get vote bombed into oblivion.

Well, I am not one to whine, but not agreeing with the majority, did in fact get me into a -74 on one comment, last I checked.

It was respectful and it was my opinion.

And it does feel less like a democracy when things like that happen.

Dammit! I can't turn the thingamajig off.

I guess we'll all just have to put aside our petty differences and deal with it on our own.

As to those who think plime has gone down the tubes and continue to think negatively about it (I.E. whine about it in this thread) are only adding to the problem. I intended this to be a proactive thread, not another whining thread.

To those who think Plime is less a democracy now and feel persecuted because they've expressed opinions outside of the majority, get used to it. In every democracy there'll be a minority opinion. If you take a few downvotes, yeah, it's going to hurt, but there may be more people who agree with you than you think. I think the only remedy for this situation would be to continue to calmly express your opinion, know when to quit beating the dead dog, and move on.

« sTeelshooTer : When did we vote on the maturity thing? Keep in mind we have a reputation for derailing any conversation into a completely unrelated area, often involving something immature. THAT is why Plime rules. While being respectful, we still accept each other despite (because of) these faults.
Every group of people has their little inside joking and it's usually immature, but that's completely normal and fine.

By maturity, I mean we don't flame and things like that. Like when there is conflict, we don't use all caps and we don't get all huffy and we work it out.

and I thinkn people just need to realise a joke is just that.. jokes.. or like the sarcasm tag we're gonna end up having to say joke after every funny comment..

Don't let it get you down, Lovely. Even if you had a comment that ended up in the negatives, you probably had other comments that more than made up for it for the day. The world keeps on spinnin' and I sure as s**t still love ya.

It isn't the downvotes that upset me. I can take a few hits. But newbies cannot. What message are we sending them?

Is is the principle of the whole thing. I wasn't in the majority, I spoke my mind *respectfully* and got downvoted for it.

Oh and I love the s**t out of you, too!
