Do we need more cheese?
Apparently, people aren't getting it.

« doggylives : I understand what your saying but it's a huge internetz out there and if for instance I held off posting something I found interesting just because someone else might want to post it, then the item I found might never get posted.

Should I hold off posting items so that others have the chance to find and post them?

The whole "power-posting" thing just seems a bit ridiculous as the whole idea of Plime is to share interesting things you find on the internet no?

I'd be more than willing to post a thread asking to not be upvoted on any posts I submit if it would put an end to the gripes about "competition" ect.

It seems like the ones that gripe about things like this are the ones who ARE bothered about levels, upvotes ect. (not you CL, just in general)

All this moaning and uptightness and holding grudges and downvotes for no reason and "who posts too much" and all the rest of it is really putting me right off Plime. I keep giving it time to settle down but it's not going to I think.
Bah, stick around. It builds character!

No, like I said, I don't hold it against anyone for finding something first. I don't have time to scour the interwebz so I am usually going to be beaten to the punch.

I was just using that as a possible example as to what some might call power-posting.

And the downvoting thing, I rarely do it unless someone is just a complete ass or says something completely horrible. (which is why I didn't even get involved with the topic in the first place.

Unzer: that last pic made me laugh.

« unzercharlie : POWERPOSTING is bad when it's someone that posts 300 pictures or gifs or whatever in a thread.
I suppose you're referring to me. Maybe even Autumn and Spamtrap.

The reason that I post every picture separately is because it was suggested. I used to post five or six pictures in one post. Someone mentioned that they liked one picture in a bunch and didn't like the rest and would prefer it if every picture was posted separately so they could each be voted on by their own merit. A few others agreed. Hence, why me and a few others post every picture separately.

You also get fewer pictures per page that way and it helps with load times.

Personally I don't care about down votes. Well at the least I still wince when I see a negative next to my name but I don't care who gave them to me. I've come to accept that people will down vote you if they disagree with you and even though I don't agree with that philosophy I respect that people have the right to vote as they see fit.

That being said, please PM me or comment me instead of down voting. I promise to be a pleasant conversationalist.

Perhaps we should settle this over a game of counterstrike.

seeing crap like that on the forums gets on my nerves, so I don't visit those threads anymore.
Very wise.
« unzercharlie : That's what I think powerposting is, not posting a bunch of articles, unless they're all crap. Sometimes they are, but hey, crap doesn't shouldn't get upvoted.
Huh?
I understand the following part: "crap should not get upvoted". I would like to add: posting crap should not be encouraged by upvoting it. I would like to add somewhat further: I do not need encouragement to post crap if I think it is a good crap.
Everything else in the quote resembles to me to a bit murky dimness of some kind of gloomy haze in all-obscuring twilight. Well, add some blur and cloud to that. i.e. I did not get it. Please explain.

I have to say thanks to Bluenutria. It appears as he's finally managed to disengage that device he bought as the drama level has started to drop.

Still some things to work out regarding proper voting but at least people are even able to discuss religion without resorting to personal attacks.

Been kinda nice round here recently. Dunno how anyone else feels but from my perspective at least. I'm sure I'm still pissing people off but... :)

« TraumaMamma : Apparently, just disagreeing with people respectfully, will get one a buttload of downvotes.

I consider myself an older member here and it pains me that just speaking my mind because it doesn't go with the rest of the opinions, can get me downvoted.
In the past... when I was young and stoopid... getting downvoted on a comment or link I posted made me feel :(

Now... when i get DV (or better yet... NO votes)...especially from those who I've perhaps rubbed the wrong way... It makes me feel :D that i've succeeded in yanking some chains. ;)

This is a GREAT virtual place to hang out.
But Life is to be lived on the outside.
Up close and personal. At least for this Plimate.

The overt drama, the name calling the public insulting and belittling has dropped tremendously.

There is still too much crap as far as people acting out of spite or perhaps out of some sort of actual or perceived attack.

Someone thinks 'x' did them wrong so they go and maliciously attack 'x' for no reason. X may ignore it, attack in kind - this time for real, or thinks 'y' did the attacking and attacks that person who continues the chain.

There are still high-ranking users (along with low to medium ranked users who only seem to exist to help disguise the voter's identity) who are going on downvoting sprees.

So many of us are saying it, but there are still those who fail to listen. Please downvote whatever content you think you should. However, please downvote for reasonable reasons. Meaning don't downvote based on the person. Downvote on the content.

Not only are new members turned off but there are a number of veterans who have left or are close to leaving because of the malicious downvotes based solely on the id of the poster.

as I said, the main problem isn't overt drama - that has died off. However the voting based on id has got to stop.
