« doggylives : What backgrounds?
Well, for instance, if there is a colored background on this page, I can't see it.
It's just...white. It's like that on every page.

Tried re-installing it? I've never had that problem. Just done a quick Google and can't find anything about it. I'll keep looking....

Given there seem to be a fair few of us on the 'Fox, if you've not seen already then by typing about:config into the address bar you can access the beating heart of the beast and bend it's will to do your bidding.

OK. That might be pushing it a little. You can make all sorts of tweaks to it though.

Here are eight good ones.

This one is an all out top to bottom FF workout that covers all the bases and explains what you are doing.

Firefox since Version 1. I have to use IE at work, as our web-based software wont work in Firefox, so I use IE Tab It runs IE in a tab in Firefox. How sweet is that. Oh yeah, and I also use Mouse Gestures

Yea, I've reinstalled before, but it does nothing. It's the same white backgrounds when we use AOL and IE also.
Opera is the only browser that shows backgrounds on this computer for some reason.

I'm intrigued. Would you happen to know the specs of your computer?

'K, this is a bit of a long shot, as it should only affect IE, but try this...

Start/Control Panel/Internet Options*

On the General Tab, click the Accessibility button at the bottom.

If there is anything in there that is ticked (especially Ignore colours specified on webpages) then untick it.

See if that makes a difference.

*If you're running XP or Vista and it is in Category View, switch it to Classic View.

Still it is nice. What is especially nice is that the standard version of FF operated after a few hours work on 6-800MB of Memory footprint and crept up by the end of the day to 1200MB where I had to kill it manually from the process list. The beta uses only 170MB after hours of work.

It is a lot better for that.

And to begin with I was amazed at how fast it renders pages.

But like all such things you soon become accustomed and it just seems normal.

I use Netscape. We have Firefox upstairs but i dont use that computer. Netscape works fine for me...and I never really felt like miessing with the FF add on's, even though they are probably simple to install.

heresy/
Plus I think a browser that needs add ons o be good is cheating /heresy

i used to prefer IE over firefox ... but then IE somehow got this google toolbar add-on that never showed, but really screwed up the browser. then i was using firefox. the add-on has been fixed though, but i still use firefox now. i use IE now and then, but only because my favorite online radio won't work in firefox.
