Curb a dog's barking?

Since Justice has come along, I've been keeping Pippi outside from about 9/10am till 8/9/10pm. She sheds an awlful lot right now, so I do this to help keep the shedding down in the house, plus to make sure new babe has no allergies to dog. (his dad has allergies). I'll probably start letting Pippi in the house more in about another week or two.

Now, my issues, Pippi barks ALOT outside at the neighbors dog. Drives me up the wall. Its the "omg please can I go play with him, please please please" bark too. She does this constantly when that dang dog is outside. It wouldn't be so bad, but the neighbors let that dang dog roam free, and it'll stay just out of Pippi's reach, which of course, makes her bark more.

Is there anything I can do to keep her a lil more calm while she's out there? I have the kids play with her for a few hours after school, and I'll go out there to love on her, yet, she'll still bark constantly at their dang dog. Luckily around 7pm, they take the dang lil dog inside, so Pippi hushes then.

Any advice, or am I just stuck listening to her bark like a lil maddog till I start keeping her back in the house during the day...I tell her to be quiet, it works for about 10 mins, then she's back to barking at that taunting dang dog.

(oh, and, I have asserted my Alpha Dog role, she no longer thinks she's better than me...LMAO. I snap my fingers and she listens to what I say. I can leave that front door open, tell her to NOT go out, and she'll just stand there, looking outside...hehe.)

you could try using the do collar that gives them a small zap evertime they bark. do it for a week or so and they usually shut up afterward.

Please don't use the shock collar. Please, please, please.
I'll do some research and try to come up with more humane solutions.

Get a doggie muzzle anti-bark thing....

or...

if your dog is afraid of water like my dog is....keep a squirt bottle full of water or a hose...or a sprinkler...

My uncle bought a color for his dog it sprayed lemon scented water out of the color every time the dog barked.
His dog f**king hated it.
She stopped barking altogether after about 2 weeks.
It isn't even much water its just a fine mist, but apparently dogs hate lemon.
After a little while she got to stop wearing it and she doesn't bark much at all any more.
It's called a 'citronella collar'
Works wonders check it out.

Please don't use a shock collar.

You now have alpha status and she is not running out of the house, so you can control the barking also.

Do you have any toys, or chew bones or treats out there for her? Maybe something to keep her occupied. If you yell out to her "Quiet", does she listen to you?

ROFLMAO!!!!!! There are days when my husband would probably love to freeze our dog, I just couldn't allow it..

I checked out that citronella collar, and read alot of comments/reviews about it. I am considering getting one for Pippi now. My luck, I'll have the only dog in the world who'll love it..LOL.
