I am so sorry to hear that. What sort of work do you do? How easy will it be to find another job in the same field?

I hope you have family to aid you through the transition.

Of course this could be the chance to try something new. Perhaps try a different type of job?

I worked for a furniture retailer, I was one of the delivery managers.

There is another big retailer coming in to town and opening up some stores, so I may be able to get on with them.

I'm looking at job listings right now. I have a friend that works for the Sherrif's office as a correctional officer, and there is a listing for that.

I've been laid off more times than I can count* and it's always been for the best. Good things will come of this. Trust me.

*Well actually it's 4. Perhaps that I can't count to 4 is the reason I keep getting laid off.

It's hard to take, but it sounds like you're on the right track to bouncing back. I've been through that a few times myself, and to quote a cliche "one door closes, but many open".

I've always managed to land much better. You will too.

Hang in there.

I would think that would keep you from getting laid.

*EDIT: Oh, LAID OFF! Nevermind...

The layoff thing is making the rounds on Plime, isn't it?

The three interviews my husband got when he lost his job a couple weeks ago, were from sending out cold resumes. We sent resumes and cover letters to several places that weren't advertising any jobs, and three of them were in fact hiring and just hadn't placed an ad.

I think I read something like only 12% of available jobs ever actually get listed in the newspaper or online. Not sure of the number, but something ridiculously small like that. So definitely just start sending them out!

Good luck, Frog. It only took Mr. Marli a week or so to get hired again- just get out there and treat the job hunt like a full time job in itself. Fingers crossed, and keep us posted!

About a year too late. I was living in northern CA, but I came back to Houston, TX a year ago in March.

I've noticed that too. I lost my job recently too; I just didn't make a thread about it. Not that making a thread about it is bad, I just didn't feel like telling anyone about it.

Best of luck to you, Froggie.

Everything happens for a reason. Look at the bright side, there was that one guy who always smelled like rotten fish. You didn't need to be around him anyway.
