I was reminded of this from the purse thread and decided to poll you all on your thoughts.

About a month or two ago I noticed a large key ring with probably 2 dozen keys on it, sitting in a planter by my front door.

We just had furniture moved in and i thought maybe one of the movers left their keys. But that wasn't the case.

Most of the keys look to be for door locks and only one of them looks like a car key. There are other smaller keys which seem to be for small locks and such.

I don't know who they belong to, and no one has called us looking for keys - which is surprising to me.

So what do you think i should do? I thought about putting them on ebay/craigslist just for fun - but if/when the owner ever comes around, i imagine they would be really upset about that...

with so many keys, i just can't imagine someone going without them for more than 2 months...it all just seems strange to me...

Put it on the lost and found section of Craig's list. Include your general neighborhood, but not your actual address, and require the claimant to identify the number and type of keys (i.e. - don't include a photo).

Take them with you everywhere you go. Try them in every lock you see. Then when you finally find the house they belong to, open the door really fast, run into the main room of the house and yell 'SURPRISE!!' at the top of your lungs. Then just throw the keys at the owner of the house and run back out.

Does your local paper have a lost and found section? Many times they will advertise the "found" items for free.
