«tomphoolry : How long did you have to sit and wait for the perfect lighting on the last shot? Or did you enhance it in post?
I guess I'm keeping my Dolly post card now. It'll probably become valuable.
It was a lucky shot and also enhanced. There was a nice mist coming off the creek. In my mind this is what it looked like but the camera picked up a rather dull white mist with washed out trees. It took forever to play with PS to get it to this because I wanted that yellowish glow that would give it a kind of mystical feeling the way I'd imagined it.
Thank you all for your kind words, you are very sweet.
Actually, I could critique these images to pieces because I do think they're good, some even great I don't think they're all great. The deer isn't crisp in full size but I would never capture the look on her face again.
I've put a bunch up on microstock sites, they have pretty strict standards about noise and clarity and composition and lighting, for all that I make very little per download so the idea is quantity. They aren't looking for art though, they're looking to sell to people and most people aren't looking for these kind of scenics. They did accept a few as well as others that aren't very interesting or arty but mostly good for stock. The rest I am trying to sell at the local farmer's market (the guy who runs the greenhouse/market is working on commission with me to sell them for me since I can't be there). He is asking $25 for small pics and I think that's a bit too much considering the area we live in but we attract a lot of city folk. We are also going to do 5x7 (most of what he has now are 4x6) and mat them. I think that would make them stand out more. I've just ordered 100 mats. I did sell the one of the cabin to the mechanic who works on my car, turns out the owner of the place recently passed away and he's going to give it as a gift to the daughter. It's almost enough that it may bring her some comfort, but the money was nice :)
Maybe I'll eventually set up my own site and offer them for sale at the price I set. If a plimate should want to buy one though I would certainly give them a special friend price.
Thank you all for the compliments, that makes 17 bad (out of 18 shots) today easier to stomach :)
