I have about a quart bag of homegrown chile peppers. They look like the Las Cruces variety and are very very hot.

Any ideas what to do with them? I can't really eat them.

You could try making jelly out of them, still hot but with a sweet side.

edit: hot pepper jelly

Dry them? Add a small amount to salsa? Hot pepper jelly would be awesome, too. Pour over cream cheese and serve with crackers. My aunt likes to add some diced spicy pecans to it as well.

Sell them to people who don't know any better.

I was selling chillies for 15 for a pound this summer.

Hot pepper jelly is the bomb. Suebe, I second that suggestion.

Should be interesting for me to try that. I don't really cook, but the recipes sound easy. I was hoping I could find someone to take them off my hand, actually.

The only reason I grew hot peppers is because every Memorial Day I plant a hot pepper plant at Peter's gravesite. This year I couldn't get a single plant easily and wound up with a mini flat of 4.One at the grave, one to his daughter, and I planted the other two, never expecting these results.
Tomorrow....is pepper jelly day!!!

Suebe, I'd gladly take some of the peppers off your hand. Enough to make some jelly, at a minimum!

Create a contest and I will ship some out to the winner. They can pick either peppers or the jelly.

Willing to do a swap?
A jar of either my fig jam or my home-made sauerkraut for a jar of your pepper jelly.
What do you say?

Hmm, I owe you both already. I only have one unopened jar of jelly at the moment and four unopened jars of hot peppers. I'm willing to send em out, you just have to decide who gets what. After finals I will make some more jelly and send it out.

Popcorn!!

Who doesn't like butter on popcorn?
And besides, butter is a great binder for popcorn additives, salt, parmesan cheese, butter buds, paprika or whatever.

Dry popcorn will not hold the stuff you shake onto in without a binder.

Butter is evil, or so they say. So you may want to stay away from it. So, how do I make my dry additives stick to my popcorn?

Extra virgin olive oil!!!

I use a catsup/mustard type squirt bottle for my EVOO, I spritz a little on my popcorn and then sprinkle on some dry toppings, add some more corn.. spritz a little EVOO, sprinkle a little more. Get the idea.

Less saturated fat.. more enjoyment!

More flavor, more health, more enjoyment and more freaking Plime!!!

crumpets + fresh ricotta = :D

I'd take pictures, but I ate it before I could get my camera.

ricotta alone is not very photogenic.
