New Question:

Should I upvote my own comment? I've noticed that some people do, some don't. I've never upvoted my own comment but I notice that it 'autovotes' when I add a news article (Just to push it off the deleted list).

Does voting for my own stuff incease my Karma? Probably. If I do it enough. Do I think it's right? Technically, no. But I was curious what others thought about it.

Nope, it does nothing for your karma either way.

You're the 2nd person to ask that question today. Interesting.

And no, it doesn't add to your karma. Furthermore, it's bad for your health. It is called plasturbation, and it will make you plind.

(OK, I admit that I recycled an old comment of mine here. Karma whore me.)

About Plime
Plime is an editable wiki community where users can add and edit weird and interesting links. Users earn karma when other users vote on their actions. The more karma you have, the more power you have at Plime.

Sneaky bastid!

Obviously smart enough to not post a comment that could be downvoted.

But how are people gonna see the profile if he never comments?

How'd you find that Dav?

there are a ton of accounts like that.

Nothing to do about it. They certainly don't hurt anyone.

Heck they may even bring people to plime since some people searching for item-x will see one of the multiple plime accounts whose bios are similar to this one.

I am thinking about buying a netbook and vaguely remember someone on here has an Asus so I googled Asus Plime.

His username was one that popped up for some reason.

His link to his Plime profile is plastered all over comments pages all over the web. Granted they don't do anything and no-one will ever see them but if there are enough of these surely the must have some detrimental effect to the innermost workings of Plime?

Well, maybe someone with too much time on their hands is willing to spam them back...

Why do I see an edit button on someone elses post?

Once you've reached a certain level, you will be able to edit comments of those with lower karma points than yourself. The community expects you to use this power responisibly. You should only edit someone elses post if it contains something that is spam, not safe for work, or highly offensive. Do not edit someone elses comment to be funny, it's not.

(This should go somewhere too)
Remember that you have your karma score because other members gave it to you. These people expect you to act in a way that would encourage appropriate participation by new members. If you break the rules, the members who gave you your karma points are likely to take them back.

« bonsai1776 : I have seen some profile pages with different colors. Can I change my profile colors? Yes you can.

How do I change my colors? Go to your profile page and click on the settings tab. From there a new set of tabs will appear below. Click on the "Colors" tab. From here you can customize your profile page with which ever colors you choose.

Can I change other colors on the site? As you reach a higher level (5) you will be able to modify other colors on the site. It is customary to ask in the forums first. Some people might be attached to those colors. This process is done in much the same manner as above but you must be in the category settings tab.

« donteatpoop : Here's a few for the FAQ (hey, that rhymed). Feel free to tweak them to fit your definitions so that we can have more comprehensive guidelines and not just donteatpoop's opinions on the matter.

When should I upvote a link/post/comment/thread? Upvotes can be used when you find one of the above to be informative, interesting, or amuzing, or provoke discussion.

When should I downvote a link/post/comment/thread? Negative Votes can be applied when you find one of the above to be rude, insulting, spamming, or trolling. Articles that are not of interest to you should not be down voted. Comments that contradict your opinion should not be downvoted unless the comment is derogatory and/or offensive.

Do I have to up/down vote everything? No. There is no need to up or down vote things that are not of interest to you, or do not have any impact on your enjoyment of the site.
My first article I submitted here was on slip and slides and a funny experience I had when I made one. It was down voted and it wasn't spam or trolling.

Your personal funny experience from when you made one? Sounds like a blog or personal website of yours. This is against the rules, and is considered spamming/splogging. Please see the FAQ link on the right side of the screen for the most up to date clarifications.

Welcome to plime.

The next one was way too soft.
