No worries (though you might want to send the guy an apology).

Just keep in mind: Most blog spammers aren't "evil". They are webmasters (like myself) trying to build a site for themselves and can't afford to promote it through paid advertisements, so they resort to self promotion.

That's not to say what they are doing is cool or permissable here. If you are rude to people, even annoying people, you may find that others feel more open about flaming new members with sarcasm.

You're probably right. All I have been doing, and I only just did it, is change the image to SPAM after first checking to see if it is indeed spam. I did this only to a repeat offender, and also commented "Please do not spam". Not a sarcastic or rude comment, just a clear "we don't like spam" comment. On one I went into slightly more detail saying "I keep checking the links, but it's still spam".
