Since I know how much Plimates enjoy de-motivational posters I thought I'd share this via the forum.
I review video games over on my hmtk.com site and we got an extra copy of the new Ridd**k game to give away. As such we decided to go with a de-motivational poster contest.
I don't see why this should be downvoted, whoever did that.
Yes, it's his own site, but if anyone else had found this contest and posted it, it would have been fine. It's not spam, it's just an interesting contest that's free to enter.
Not saying it should be super-upvoted, but definately not worth deleting.
«hmtksteve:I specifically posted this in the forum area because it is a link to my blog. Unless rules have changed yet again about blog links?
You're fine. We ask that you don't post your own links to the front page which you haven't - thank you.
Links within the forum are not as regulated. Generally speaking as long as they are not of an overly commercial manner and you don't abuse it - this is the first post to your site you've posted in a very long time so we're good there as well.
Plime is an editable wiki community where users can add and edit weird and interesting links. Users earn karma when other users vote on their actions. The more karma you have, the more power you have at Plime.
A fun contest for people to get in on would have been overlooked had he posted this in the Blog thread. It's not like hmtk does this sort of thing all the time.
If someone posts a thread every week about their own site, of course, I'll DV it, but as DEP said, if it's just once, even just very occasionally, especially if it's just announcing an opportunity for Plime people, then I'm all fine with it.

I'm not DV it, but still I think it doesn't need a thread on its own. We have a thread for your blog, we have the thread for things that doesn't need their own thread, we have Longest thread ever - and BernardBlack does mean EVER, there is no need to start a thread just for an announcement. Now if he wanted us to post here our entries, that would be a completely different issue. Then I would say, OK, we need this thread. As a matter of fact we really do not need this one. Now that I think of it, I guess I should dv it. The only reason I don't is that we have this nice TJ (Threadjack) going on.

I disagree DEP.
If you came and ADVERTISED your site (www.donteatpoop.com) and tried to generate traffic for yourself, you're not adhering to the 'spirit of plime'.
Self promotion is self promotion. If he wants to advertise, he needs to contact Jax and pay for an ad like everyone else.

Bottom line...the votes at the top of the page keeping this thread afloat say different. THAT is the SPIRIT of PLIME.
Even though htmilksteve is an internet troll magnet and hangs around all the asses of the internet, and has an ugly dog...the votes are what keeps his sorry ass alive.
*shakes fist at htklmsteve
(Is that a real website?)
Google it and find out. Two things though... 1. be sure and click the "turn safe search off" and B. Be sure and have a bucket or bag within reach.

There has been a number of other self-promoting threads (even purely commercial ones) by other plimates. They didn't get questioned - mainly because those users were old timers.
I know you wouldn't suggest that we have one set of rules for one set of users and a different one for other users
