DEAR DIARY:

After a long day at the hospital visiting my mother, who was recovering from hip surgery, I was happy to find a parking spot on Central Park West, across from my apartment building. As soon as I put the car in reverse to parallel park, I turned around to make sure that nobody had sneaked into the spot head on.

Instead of an opportunistic car blocking my path, I noticed a horse and buggy coming closer and closer, and assumed they would go around me — or perhaps just wait for me to finish backing into the parking spot.

I checked my rearview mirror again and couldn’t believe that the horse had done none of the above — he simply came as close as possible to my car and started licking it, from the trunk to the back window.

The horse’s saliva created a film over my children’s college decals.

I jammed the car into park, opened the car door and screamed at the driver, “What am I supposed to do now?”

His response: “It’s a green light, lady. Go!”
