Am I the only one who bets that this would result in a lot of misses by drunks who aim AT the glowing strips instead of between them?

The World's Worst Kept Secret
After four years of construction, in 1965 a 620ft tall cylindrical building was declared open. Situated at the 60 Cleveland Street, London it dominates the surround landscape and remained the tallest building in all of London until it was surpassed by the Natwest Tower in 1991.
It's purpose was tied to it's massive size. At the top are situated an number of masts, antennae and microwave transmitters that allowed it to take its position at the heart of the UK wide communication network.
It was originally called The Post Office Tower and then subsequently the BT Tower and Telecom Tower.
It also has a restaurant at the top which revolves around the central column, taking 22 minutes to complete a full rotation.
It looks like this:
Prior to 1993 I would not have been able to tell you this and you would not have been able to see that image.
Why?
Because it was an official secret. To all intents and purposes, from 1961 to 1993 it did not officially exist. During this time it did not show up on any maps of the area.
Granted, it was a critical part of the communications infrastructure and any well prepared invading force would have made its capture one of their primary goals (indeed, in 1971 the IRA detonated a bomb inside the tower) but denying it's very existence was probably a little overzealous.
Thankfully, after questions from MP Kate Hooey the government finally admitted to its existence in 1993.
Which makes giving directions in that area of London a hell of a lot more easy.
