I'm in the market for a new cell phone. I've had the Motorola Razr for almost 4 years now and it's held up very well...but it's on it's last legs.
As much as the idea of an iPhone interests me, the fact that I have to pay an additional $30 per month for data services means I'm not getting an iPhone.
I have a Blackberry Pearl, I've had one since they came out. Just a couple of days ago I dropped my first one from about 35ft. I didn't hesitate to go and get another. I could get any phone I want, but chose the pearl for it's ease of use, email capabilities, qwerty keyboard, and most of all size. The storm, and curve, and iphone are just too big.
of course this picture is HUGE!
The clip case they have for it automatically tuns the phone off when you insert it, which is also convenient.

I've had a Crackberry Blackberry Curve for about a month. I tried out the Storm, but liked the tactile feel of the buttons on the Curve much better. The phone store guy also told me he gets a lot of people returning the Storm and switching to the Curve for that reason.
I'm still getting used to it, but I noticed my reception has improved in previously bad reception areas.
I like the larger size, since it's hard for me to see the display otherwise without my reading glasses. I can make the time font BIG!!
Have a look at the others, sure. But that's only so you've got something to compare it against, so you know what lies in its shadow.
I'm expecting that you're going to look up numbers yourself and I've no desire to blind you with science so instead an exemplum from earlier today.
I popped in to visit a friend this evening on my way from work. He's a MacHead who has been waiting for his current contract to expire so he can get an iPhone.
After about 3 minutes of exposure to the G2 he was waivering. After 10 the iPhone plan was abandoned. Now he's Android all the way.
iPhone is extremely awesome.. my gf has it... but 85.00 a month.. no thanks.
I recommend the motorola and an ipod touch lol.
I carry around both everywhere and its not a prob. Most places I go I get wifi for free for the touch and there's no monthly fee. Not to mention the ipod touch uses most the same apps as the iphone.... including skype.. making it just like a phone (2.95 a month).
Just make sure you get a phone with a wifi option. That way you don't have to pay for the internet.
I have a plain and simple cell phone. I can answer calls, make calls, send text messages, take pictures, have an address book and could have internet access if I wanted it, but don't. I mostly use my cell for quick phone calls, emergencies, long distance to my parents etc. and bluetooth that connects to my car bluetooth which makes it nice and hands free when I'm driving and have to take or make a call.
I work in the tech industry. When I'm away from work, other than on my personal laptop, I don't want to be chained to my cell phone or to the tech world for that matter. I deal with it all day 5+ days a week, 40+ hours a week. When I'm out and about and doing things in life, I don't want to be bothered by my cell phone and there's no reason to surf the net when I'm doing other things.
My Grandfather stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day and fought under Blood and Guts Patton all the way to the end of WWII and he didn't need a damned cellphone. Anyone who wants me to get one will have to take it up with him.
