I totally agree that it's annoying and excessive, and to try to answer as best as I can as to why it's happening (as coldbladed already stated), he was an incredible entertainer.  His music has influenced so many, as well as his dancing, but not only that, he was a great humanitarian before he took a wrong turn in his life.<br/><br/>Despite what he was accused of, you can't deny his contributions.  OJ ran a football, and didn't have a worldwide effect on people.  Judas, well no one was around back then to celebrate the greatness of him before he betrayed the J-man....<br/><br/>Michael Jackson died a long time ago for me, which is why I'm so indifferent to it.  He was a great performer, let the people celebrate him. There really aren't that many fanboys who are willing to truly forgive him (see album sales since 2000).<br/><br/>As much as I hate to bring it up again we also have to remember that he was never convicted for touching little boys. He was also an easy target for a big payout so the families, which also not proven fraudsters, certainly had motive to attempt to fake such a thing. MJ's contributions in the worlds of music, dance, and pop culture are what people admire him for. Love him or hate him he is dead. Personally I couldn't care less about him but I am confused over the mass hysteria following his death. All day long I have listened to his songs on the radio and watched news reports about his death.<br/><br/>This is the major sticking point with me. The first 30 minutes of this evenings news was about a man who was accused of molesting minors, then paid his way out of court, He also hung his young baby over a balcony endangering the childs life.<br/><br/>Then at the end of the news came this report <a class="plime" href="/redir.p?http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/8120560.stm" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/8120...</a><br/><br/>This report is about a toddler who was beaten to death by her babysitter. <br/><br/>Michael Jackson had a poor childhood, of this I am sure but on progressing into adulthood he became responsible of his own actions and the consequences of those actions.<br/><br/>The toddler in question had no childhood, no chance of making herself into a person. Her fragile life was extinguished by some scum who deserves to be strung up. <br/><br/>Why was this man who was hated by so many idolized in his death and a girl who was brutally murdered snubbed for someone had fame thrust upon him then sought it at every turn?<br/><br/>I don't want this thread to turn into a b***hfest about MJ but I do want to understand why people think that he is more important than a toddler who was murdered in such a brutal manner by someone entrusted to care for her.]]></content><score></score><crdate>6/26/2009 5:29:09 PM</crdate><rssdate></rssdate><atomdate>2009-06-26T17:29:09+01:00</atomdate></comment></items></xml>
