« horsefeathers : Today we were contacted by a feline rescue to take in a 3-4 month old Rottie puppy. The "owner" has bought 20 purebred puppies over the past 5 years, dumped every single one of them at shelters.
She owns a cat rescue???

Right now we are thinking of anything we can to get that puppy from her before she dumps her at a shelter. :(
Our rescue has offered people money in the past, just to get the animal out of the situation. $50 will usually do it, those poor animals have such little value to that kind of person.

I think Horsefeathers meant the woman who owns the current pup, not the owner of the cat rescue. I'd guessed the cat rescue people were being contacted by the woman for other reasons, and they in turn are trying to help rescue the dog from this woman.

Correct Maven. For one reason or another the owner of the pup contacted the Feline rescue, that rescue in turn, contacted us.

We're trying to get the pup from the wacko.

Found out today that my parents have changed plans so we are taking a train to London soon, from the far, far north of England, instead of driving. Though, in itself a fate worse than death, it has screwed up my plans of seeing some mates that I ain't seen for ages.

Hopefully I'll be able to sort something.

Speaking of candy...

A local supermarket hung bags on the walls that were decorated by the kids. They would be displayed for a week and then filled with candy and given back to the kids.
My boy decorated his bag..."look dad, this is just black horror around my name, like black, black, black, black, black, black, black,
black, black, black, black, and black, and this is the red crazy blood coming down my bag.
So Halloween comes..."let's get my bag!"...only, when we get there, there is no bag. Some peoples came in with their kid and took it...said it was theirs.
My boy is like..."So why did peoples takes my bag?"
"Well it's obvious isn't it, I said... It was plainly the most awesome bag, and they had to have it."..."you know, only the most awesome stuff gets taken."
He smiled, let it go like it was, oh, just some stupid candy.

I have fought against assuming my mother's negativity all my life. When I moved away from home, and she would come visit, I'd ask her to say one positive thing after every negative thing she said. Sometimes, her positive statements would crack us all up, and made her think about what she was doing.

Don't give up; seek counseling if you need to. You can do it.

I think noticing it is the biggest thing. I grew up thinking my parents relationship was normal. I remember she once told me that she firmly believes in every relationship there is one person in charge (she assume this role of course)

This idea is scarey, but I lucked out in finding a guy that calls me out on my crap instead of suckin up like some other people have.
