Sold by weight. I have never seen it with bananas before but quite often with cucumber. Also cucumbers come wrapped in plastic for some reason too.

It's just silly to waste all that packaging when bananas come in their own. Put the sticker right on it, don't ya think?

You would think so nowadays when stores give you loylaty points for using your own bags rather than take some of theirs. Then again I have a cucumber in the fridge that is wrapped in shrinkwrap then sealed inside a plastic bag.

Here they shrinkwrap the English cucumbers but not the regular ones. But those they oil or wax to shiny them up.
