Well, he was being honest, at least on the 911 thread. I cannot speak for others I did not see.

We owe him an apology, actually.

I totally agree, and hope he's open to that. And staying. Just goes to show you that it's best to have answers before things spin out of control. Props to you, TM. And to Maven's suggestion.

I think the community deserves to know who did this. Anyone who would do such a thing is not welcome here, IMO.

I suspect it will come out.

There was alot of misdirected anger towards TKG.

We should be angry at whoever did this to begin with.

About Plime
Plime is an editable wiki community where users can add and edit weird and interesting links. Users earn karma when other users vote on their actions. The more karma you have, the more power you have at Plime.

Out of curiosity only, which is a weak argument. The important thing is that account has very likely been already taken care of.

I feel very badly for TKG. People treated him very badly for something he did not do.

Well, either way, we've all been demoted to Mall Security. At least we get to ride a Segway.

Or in this case, one single bad apple who edited TKG's post. The other 2000 members are okay.

TM, thanks for spearheading against the attack against tgkprog. I only wish I could upvote you more.

No, you haven't. The truth is that edit feature is something that nobody should have ever had regardless.

It's like saying that by giving people the right to lock their own doors (where previously nobody had locks), I'm removing your freedom to enter other people's houses against their wishes.

And as far as removing downvoting/upvoting abilities on content 30 days old, well that just makes sense anyway. It's old content and can only really be used for malicious voting.

If I don't like it, I can easily restore things but I am *so* sick of the constant pm complaints about people downvoting each other in old threads.

I was just making a joke with the mall security thing, tbh. The editing feature being taken off at level 5 makes sense. Spammers usually don't get past level 5 anyway.

As for the other two, those don't bother me at all, actually. It only makes sense to remove those features.

I think the recent changes take a lot of the "wiki" feeling away from Plime. And "old" content can become interesting again, particularly in the forums, when older threads are bumped. Last month's news probably don't get that much traffic, but even they are dug up every now and then by searches and through the related tab. I can see how removing the voting feature for news can help reducing the abuse, but for forum posts (which aren't conveniently indexed on a user's profile page anyway), I'd really like to keep it.
I don't know how many complaint PMs you actually receive, but would you consider it an option to restore unlimited forum voting and at the same time declaring that you are simply not going to deal with voting complaints anymore? I strongly believe in the system regulating itself.

Sure. But let's let things simmer down for a while before restoring it to let tempers cool.

I agree, it was a terrible invasion of privacy. But sadly, if something like that happened again, you wouldn't be able to take care of it.

Could there be a way to disable down/upvotes on threads that are buried, but have the feature available again once they are brought back to the front page? So that the hidden downvotes can't happen, but once the thread gets brought back to life one can vote as one pleases?

Jax, as this is now an unmoderated forum if there is anything that needs editing then can we bring those issues to you? Sure, they're rare (now) but they do crop up from time to time.

Edited to add, can you also put the points on each comment back in on the older posts.

Amongst other things voting allows people to express their opinion and that opinion is then removed. Further, whilst the votes were visible it was clear to all that there are certain things that are just not acceptable. Now, in many cases, it looks as if we have simply accepted or possibly even endorsed some truly offensive commentary and we have no chance to make redress.

I confess I said a nasty to Bingo last week. I apologize(all of the time it seems) to the group but most of all Bingo. It was in retaliation for being told to "sleep it off". Inferring to my state of sobriety. I no longer drink and Plime(I haven't for a month or so), I get to stupid. You're a good group and like Jax said "let's let things simmer down for a while".
Thanx for your time.
