I just went into the den, to collect my kitty for bed, and she's in there playing with a scorpion that was nearly 2 inches long from claws to stinger.

I guess she's alright. She was a little miffed about being locked up in the bedroom while I dealt with her new playtoy.

Gym time.

Hate it when my back hurts...I do not have time to exercise AND do yoga. Sigh.

Poor Pickles. Why would you steal her toy?

I wonder when modern technology will advance far enough that someone can make a printer that doesn't need to stop for a breather every 60 or so pages.

I don't believe the printer in the office pauses after 60 pages,

but conversely it's big enough that I could hide inside it if the paper trays were all removed.

I didn't count - that was an estimate.

You could comfortably fit two babies in ours.

Or seventeen squirrels uncomfortably.

You need to use squirrels that are about to take their after-dinner nap. Makes them much more manageable.

Or greased.

You can get a lot more squirrels in if you grease them first.

And that's not just printers.

*wonders how much time you spend working when you have enough time for squirrel wrangling*

*realizes this is why printers break so often*

Paper tray, boys. Think. Use paper squirrels, works out MUCH better.

Actually there are a whole bunch of rollers inside, if you just send the rodents through the wringer they'll be pretty simple to just stack in neat little piles.

Paper *animal* refers to animals that have been flattened on the road...At least, that's what it meant in Wyoming, working with biologists. They did 'papyrus rani' field sampling of frogs.

When given a choice of ways to turn in an application for employment — e-mail, fax or standard mail — is one way seen as better than the others?

E-mail is fast and efficient.

Standard comes as one complete package.

Fax....I don't have a fax, but could find one.

Any thoughts?

If you include a resume, email (resume as a pdf), then standard, then fax. If you don't have a resume as a pdf, standard, then email, then fax.

You spent time formatting that resume...why risk having it wonkified by someone's stupid print settings or a sketchy fax?

If no resume is included, then email, standard, fax, for timeliness.

Fax is last because pretty much 95% of all faxes look like crap. My application represents me. I want crisp, legible lines.

If you know someone in the company, have them deliver it personally.

and I'm always wary of emails being overlooked or discarded in the golden age of the blackberry, if it's going to a hiring manager, I'd be a little worried about that, if it's going to HR then I wouldn't.

Does this auto-play for anyone else? It seems LiveLeak videos will auto-play by default, when embedded. I hate opening up the video tab and hearing sound come out of my speakers causing me to search for the playing video and stop it, especially if I want to watch a different one.
