I just saw a little news article about the world tree climbing contest. I thought it looked pretty cool, until you saw that the people were basically shimmying up ropes that are attached to a tree.

That's not tree climbing! That's rope shimmying!

Ropes? Helmets? Harnesses? the only rope that should be in a tree is a rope swing! Bring on the free climbers!

Painting a house for most of the day felt so good... better than my "real" work has for a long while. There's something clean about painting, making a fresh start.

I have to agree. I love painting and transforming a room. But I have to be in the mood for it.

And I hate the set-up and clean-up.

I still have 4 bedrooms and a bath to paint if you feel the urge!

I know this because everyone in the room, other than me and one dog, was asleep...and the snoring started after the last cat fell asleep.

I think I have bruises on my hands from the wooden handle...but I'm going back Monday for more!

My uncle is such an amazing person. I posted a sketchbook page on my blog a while ago and had flipped some text backwards cause it was a bit too personal (but not personal enough to blur it or blank out.) Anyways, the drawing was a pocket watch and I wrote that my Grandfather loved his, and the backwards text read:
"I used to think he left me feathers to guide me. Either stopped or he is mad at me."

Well my uncle being the curious nut that he is deciphered my oh so cryptic text. Today he gave me a little cardboard box. He said to open it when I was alone.

Inside were tons of colored feathers, a print out (in purple and green) that says "The three most important things to have are faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of them is love." 1 Corinthians 13:13. There are three peacock feather tips with little papers attached to the stems sure enough faith, hope, and love.

Then there was a printout of my sketch with an arrow pointing at it and it said some beautiful words and at the end he wrote "The feathers are yours and now, so is his watch." and in the box there was a smaller blue box and inside is a purple feather, and my grandfather's gold pocket watch with my grandmother's picture still inside.

I'm still in awe.

It's 1:34 am and I can't sleep. I have to wake up early. Ugh.

Holy... I'm gone for a few months and this is now on it's fourth thread?

On a different note, I just picked up a new laptop. :D I managed to get a refurbished gaming laptop for $700. I'm quite happy with it.

Only problem was that they didn't screw the hard drive in when then sent it to me...
