I don't know why, but every so often my mind turns to the subject of DNA. Not evolution, not inherited traits, but the actual molecule. If there were enough DNA to see with the naked eye, what color would it be? Would it be a liquid or a solid? Would it be slimy or sticky? If you tried to spoon some up, would it come out stringy, like spaghetti?

Not sure where to put this comment but it's only recently that I've been coming here more and i've been trying to fit in and be polite and I'm getting voted down on all my posts and comments since i disagreed with some dude in the news tab.

Generally complaining about being downvoted only gets more downvotes but I think this is wrong. If you feel that someone is downvoting you without reason try PMing him. If there is no joy with that approach then I'm afraid that there is not a lot you can do.

Some people are just a*****es and if you ignore them they will go away.

I've already told you why I downvote. Every post of yours that I've downvoted is because I feel you fit the description. (Actually, several of the posts of yours that are in the negatives are not from downvotes from me, but from other people).

Downvotes will happen. You just have to learn to get over them. Plus, disagreeing with me will generally get you more karma, anyway.

However, ad hominem attacks will generally get downvotes as a general rule.

I have told Whiffle's owner that I cannot pay her $200, or any sum of money, really, for the hedge. If she truly wants to find her a new home, I would be glad to take her and give her a new loving home. However, if she can find someone who is willing to pay $200, I would not be offended.

BTW, $200 is ludicrous. If I were to buy everything this woman told me I'd be getting with the "package" BRAND NEW at the store, I'd pay about $75.

Actually, you CAN see DNA with the naked eye. We did it in Chemistry in college. We got a DNA sample and used some kind of magic DNA growing machine and grew tons and tons of DNA from this one strand. Eventually, you could see the DNA form into a cloudy, slightly fibrous mass in the tube.

From what I saw of it, I imagine it would feel like picking up a handful of pumpkin guts... only infinitesimally small.

I lost count of how many times I was called by my sister, mother or aunts name yesterday.

Kind of disheartening, given that my sister and I don't look THAT alike, and the whole age difference thing with mom and my aunt.

Had one gentleman persist in calling me by my mom's name even after gently correcting him and having him talk to my mother.

But...I did get to spend time with my cousins girls. :D The eldest one was sneaky and got in the buffet line with me, so got all sorts of things her parents wouldn't let her get including a GIANT piece of angel food cake with sticky marshmallow frosting. (I also took her to the bathroom and de-stickied her afterward, though)
