Copied from another forum because I'm too lazy to rewrite it:

Turns out we were doing cat dissection in the Anatomy lab today. Lovely formaldehyde smell and all (thankfully I brought a painter's mask and the teacher brought Vick's Vapor Rub).

Warning: If you are as squeamish as I am, skip this part...

So, every two tables got a single cat at a certain section of the cat to dissect corresponding to the muscles we were studying. My group got the muscles in the head and abdomen. So, everyone in my group gathered around the table opposite of mine where the cat was situated while I put on my painter's mask, enough Vick's to cause my eyes to water and make breathing from my nose impossible, and a pair of latex gloves that were meant for hands half the size of mine and thus made me look like some web-handed circus freak.

Everyone gathered on the sides of the table, so I wound up situated at the end of the table where the cat was facing. This meant, while everyone was prodding the ex-cat, I got to stare into its face. Now, this wasn't a pleasant looking cat. It had this mangy looking, scraggly haired head attached to a naked, plucked, and uncooked hen looking body with sections of skin pulled over it's toes making it look like those little white caps placed on the bottom of the legs of a chicken dinner. Furthermore, it had a sponge lodged in its mouth, its brownish-yellowish tongue was hanging off to the side, and its pupils were white and facing in different directions. So I was standing there with this poor little critter looking at me with the one eye that was facing me going, "Yooou did this to meeeee!"

If that wasn’t bad enough, we had to give the thing a name. We settled on Meowmeow, after one my groupmate’s ex-boyfriend’s cat…

So, two of my labmates, where were both nurses, started cutting into it. One started slicing open the abdomen, the other was trying to prod the skin off its neck with a blunt probe through a hole that was going through the middle of the throat. I spent that time curling up in my chair and whimpering. A few minutes later, I hear “Oops, I think I cut to deep” coming from the one skinning the abdomen. She cut past the muscle to the organs. I’m just sitting there going, “OhdeargodI’msorryMeowmeowI’msorry!”

I haaaaaaate youuuuu

So, the teacher come over and helps get the other side of the abdomen skinned. By that, I mean she starts ripping off the skin with her (gloved) hands like a kid ripping the wrapping of a Christmas present. That is, if said Christmas present was a dead cat. I was obviously not enjoying this sight. Eventually it’s cleared off and progress if finally being made on getting the neck muscles out with a blunt object (which was followed by the person doing it poking at a little sack of …stuff… where the hole was…). This came out a little more smoothly, although I couldn’t really see because Meowmeow was still staring at me with its perpetual death scream.

Once all that was said and done, my other groupmates decided to check its sex, so Meowmeow wound up being violated in its poor little pussy by a blunt probe.

Whyyyy?! WHYYYYYYYY?!

Meowmeow was a Mrs., in case it wasn’t obvious.

She was eventually stuffed back into the bag she came from where I (thankfully) could not see her face, and was placed in a freezer in the back room of the lab, which I entered very reluctantly. Needless to say, I spent the next few minutes after that washing my hands…

I do hope that Kamineko can forgive me for this, and Meowmeow, if you’re reading this, please don’t haunt me! >▲<

Why are you taking anatomy?

I ask, because you're making this incredibly melodramatic. If you're squeamish, which you seem to be, why take the class? It's not going to get better.

It's oink*cough* vaccine time here.

Was a bit on the fence about it, but my science won my brain.

If I come back oinking, I'll know it failed.

Edit: They're out of vaccine because it couldn't be made fast enough!?!

Today, only old people, babies and people making more people could get it. Meh.

@Maven: Because I'm doing a biology major, and it's one of the required classes.

And that wasn't written in all seriousness. I am legitimately squeamish and all, but not so much as to believe that the cat I was dissecting was blaming me for its demise and would haunt me for being there. :P

The Android OS is really picking up some steam lately. Saw two back to back commercials that had something to do with it. First this HTC one which is actually pretty clever:

And another one for Motorola's new implementation with MOTOBLUR. Pretty good sign that Android's starting to hit its stride. :D

All I Ever Really Needed to Know I Learned in KindergardenShare everything.
Play fair.

Don't hit people.
Put things back where you found them.
Clean up your own mess.
Don't take things that aren't yours.
Say sorry when you hurt somebody.
Wash your hands before you eat.
Flush.
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
Live a balanced life.

Learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.

Take a nap every afternoon.
When you go out into the world, watch for traffic, hold hands, and stick together.
Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the plastic cup? The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.

Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the plastic cup - they all die. So do we.

And then remember the book about d**k and Jane and the first word you learned, the biggest word of all: LOOK.

Everything you need to know is in there somewhere.
The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation.
Ecology and politics and sane living.

Think of what a better world it would be if we all - the whole world had cookies and milk about 3 o'clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankets for a nap. Or if we had a basic policy in our nation and other nations to always put things back where we found them and cleaned up our own messes. And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.

Blurh, trying to make a spread sheet showing the different cost of materials for a piece of chain maille jewelry for a family member. She wants the costs for the different base metals and precious metals laid out for her for each gauge and size of ring before she makes a decision. Normally not a problem, but today my brain is not working and I think I'm getting sick.

Making a cup of tea then going to bed.
