« tundramonkey : I hear you on that one! I'm seriously considering moving to Alaska, because I get taxed a redonkulous amount living here in Canada. I completely support basic government programs; I like having basic health care and schooling subsidized, but the $1Billion gun registry program? Unbelievable. Welfare - and by this I mean supporting the lazy members of our society that try and work but just won't? No thanks. The proposed government-funded daycare system? Hells no! [This system won't give any credit to stay-at-home parents, which is my gigantic criticism of it].
Damn straight. I'm a crip and I manage to drag myself to work every day. Like I'd said somewhere before, it burns me to see people use food stamps to buy steak and lobster (literally, I work at a grocery store and I've seen this) while I'm working and I can afford hamburger and canned tuna. So basically I'm paying for their goddamn steak and lobster.

While I'm here I'm also driven insane by customers who see a sign clearly labeled "Green Grapes, $1.99 a pound", point to the bright green grapes directly below the sign and ask, "How much are the grapes?".

A-f'n-greed. I hate welfare. Saw a cool shirt once, it said "Work Harder -- Millions On Welfare Depend On You". Ugh. And you know what the sad part is? Most of the people on welfare could get a job and work someplace, but do they? Noooo. Of course not. Why should they become useful members of society when they can sit with their hands out?

Somebody posted a link a few days ago discussing drug-testing welfare collectors - that's a government program I'd 100% support. If I get drug-tested monthly to get a paycheck, those on welfare should too. There are some people who actually do need it, which is why the system is in place, but I think a little 'pee-in-a-cup' would force many lazy a$$holios from abusing the system.

I hate the fact that in this country, we are being forced to alter our culture to satisfy a few PC Bar-Stewards who belive we are offending other cultures by practicing our own.

This is a country in which we celebrate Christmas, Easter e.t.c, We are being told it is offensive to other cultures to put up decorations to celebrate. Well I'm sorry but i don't go around telling the Minorities that they are offending me by celebrating their religious festivals, and to be honest, it isn't them compalining about our celebrations, It's our own, do good government, trying not to offend people, who aren't offended in the first place, and subsequently offending me by destroying the culture of our own goddamn country!

I'm an atheist, I don't give a crap who practises what, as long as it doesn't involve mutilating small animals. I would, however, prefer less Xmas music in stores. After three months, 7 hours a day, 6 days a week at work hearing the same 15 songs over and over, I am ready to kill.

Speaking of, thought of another one at work. Ok, we have 3 urinals in the men's room. None are occupied, I take the one closest to the wall. Invariably, the next guy in takes the one right next to me instead of the one furthest away! What is UP with that? Are you lonely, dude? Respect my personal space . . . and also it makes it so I can't pee.

SO many things piss me off... it's unbelievable.

A small list:

Mothers who give you sh*t about not calling when THEY never, ever call either.

People who throw cigarette butts out their car window or just on the ground. These people cannot die of cancer fast enough for me.

Hunters.

Hypocrits. Yes, we all do it. It pisses me off when *I* do it, and it pisses me off more when *you* do it.

*sigh* Need coffee, must calm down. :)

Lucky you! You get to hear my defense of hunters in this thread, since I get pissed off by people who eat meat yet think hunters are horrible people. *Note* To all vegetarians and vegans: Do not read any further.

1- Most hunters are not out to get trophies. Yes, we had antlers on the wall in my house as I was growing up, but my dad did not go hunting in order to acquire said decorations.

2- Most hunters are not poachers. They apply for hunting licenses, pay the proper fees, and kill only as many animals as they are allowed to. The license will specify species, number, and gender.

3- Most hunters do not kill for the sake of killing. Yes, there is sport in it - one has to be a good shot in order to be a good hunter - but animals killed in the hunt are always eaten.

4- Hunting is not cruel (unless you're PETA). As I said above, most hunters are good shots. A single bullet/arrow is sufficient to kill the animal, and a well-placed shot offers a quick, near-painless death (I say near-painless because there's no way to know for sure, but I'm sure a bullet is less painful than having your throat ripped out by a mountain lion).

5- Hunting is necessary to prevent overpopulation, as a significant number of natural predators have been hunted to near extinction by the settlers of the past few hundred years. Without natural predators, the numbers of deer, antelope, rabbits, etc., swell until there is not enough food to sustain them, and then they die off slowly by starvation.

I say "most hunters" here because of those few who do enjoy killing animals for the sake of killing. There are also those who think assault rifles are necessary equipment for rabbit hunting. These people are morons. My friend's father hunts bears just fine with only a bow and arrow (well, he probably takes along several arrows).

[/rant]

There. I feel better now.

Unlucky me. :( I don't know if this means anything to you, but I'm a Veterinary Technician. This means I have dedicated my life to *healing* animals. Despite the fact that I eat meat, I STILL think hunters are horrible.

Hunting an animal with a gun or compound bow is not sport. It's killing another creature for fun. Hunt a deer with a sharpened stick and I *might* consider it sport.

Hunting is cruel, sorry. Even if I murder another human with a super-clean shot to the head that results in instant death, it's murder AND cruel.

Overpopulation caused by humans does not justify you getting your jollies by murdering a wild animal for fun. Two wrongs do NOT make a right. Three lefts, however, do.

I'm very sorry to the other folks posting here that have to read both of these threadjackings. :( SORRY!

Just one more thing, then I'll shush. I wish that people would see where their food comes from, if only once. If, after seeing all the blood and guts and death, they vow to become vegetarian because the butchering of animals disgusts them, then I applaud them. They have an opinion and they're sticking to it. Now if someone knows what it's like when an animal is killed for food, and that person thinks that it's horrible and that the people who kill the animals are horrible, and yet that person still eats meat, well...

Yeah, hypocrites piss me off too.

I disagree, if the food becomes too low to sustain them all, they will die off to just the right amount that can be sustained anyway.

for even more of a challenge, have an animal shoot at you (and survive)!
