Ok makri, you are next on the list.

Since you're so handy around the house, can you come fix my leaky faucet?

Have you ever been to Moomin World? If so, what was your favorite attraction there?

If you could have lunch with anyone (one or more people) who would you want at the table and why?

« suebe : Ok makri, you are next on the list.
Happy April 1st folks.
Since you're so handy around the house, can you come fix my leaky faucet?
No. Unless your faucet has a CLI or a graphical interface, there's probably very little I could do about it.
Have you ever been to Moomin World? If so, what was your favorite attraction there?
We've been to Moomin World twice, last summer and the previous. Last summer we drove there the day before, stayed in a motel overnight and spent the entire day walking around the Moomin island. My daughter was 3 and a half and my son 5 months or so.

It was great fun for the bigger kid, although she was a bit intimidated by the huge moomin characters. I think my personal favourite was the moominmamma's pancake house, from the kids perspective it was the moominhouse itself.
If you could have lunch with anyone (one or more people) who would you want at the table and why?
I'm not much into mixing nutrition and social interaction, but I wouldn't mind having a chat with Terry Pratchett, and providing he would be alive, Douglas Adams, and providing he'd be alive and speaking english, Franz Kafka.

« BrownTrout : What was your favorite childhood activity?
I was quite social kid, playing outside with my friends was always fun. I was also very interested in books; the first time I read the Bible from cover to cover I was 8 years old.

But my favourite probably was building stuff with my dad. He was a mortician and he had a workshop where he built coffins, sometimes I helped him with those or we built other stuff together, mostly toy machine guns, assault rifles and stuff.
What is one positive and one negative thing about your country?
My country as in Finland? Positive thing would be the socialist society, although it took moving to Canada to appreciate everything people had there. Even our right wing politicans are leftist from north american point of view.

Negative thing would be having the line between the state and the church blurred and their duties overlap.
If you were an animal, what would it be and why?
An orangutang. They look like they're constantly partying, even when they're doing nothing.
Bonus Question: What church do you attend? ;)
I currently don't attend any church. I used to be a member of Finnish Evangelic Lutheran Church, but I resigned my membership officially 5 years ago. I was confirmed 16 years ago in a traditional lutheran confirmation camp, and most of my church attendance was after the camp when I was trying to get a summer job with the church being "an elder" in the next years camp. Despite having the best attendance record and the best test score (in Bible knowledge) they didn't pick me. Probably partially because I admitted I didn't believe in gods, the bible or the church.

« mennufer : What's your favorite food?
Anything with spicy ground meat in it. Perhaps lasagna. Or tacos.
What's with the Eeyore fixation?
It dates back to a few year old photo of me where I happened to have a plush eeyore on my shoulder. Can't recall why. Probably just to give the serious picture some contrast.
Who's your favorite textor/hamster-lover on Worth?
There are textors... never mind. I won't go there.
What is your favorite work of art?
I don't have a single favourite piece. In general I like detailed, photorealistic paintings. One of my favourite artists is Kaj Stenvall.

These days I have more beard, most of the time. The amount of hair has stayed the same.
On a more serious note, what do you think would have been Socrates reaction to the following?
Socrates didn't have theories on human excistence and universe. He was spiritual man and a bit of a fatalist.

I think his reaction would have been surprise and anguish - he was a human after all - but if he had had time to prepare and think about it, he probably would have embraced the bizarre event.

The reaction of Hume or Descartes however would have been interesting.

Dairy products - cheeses, yoghurt, quark

I haven't found any quark here though - it used to be in my food items top 5 back in Finland. It sort of resembles plain yoghurt in taste, but is more sour. Nutritionally it's mostly protein.

I don't think any of them would have been able to read it. smileyface

Haven't seen Clerks or Clerks 2 and had never heard of Kevin Smith before I checked Wikipedia entry for the movies. I feel that the first one might be better.
Who do you think would win in a fight, yhe Hamburger Helper guy, or Oven Mitt from Arbys?
Once again, unfamiliar territory but in a google fight i staged the hamburger helper guy kicked oven mitt's butt.
When thinking about images you have chopped, which one stands out as you favorite, and which as your best?
Houndger is probably my favourite. It was a silly idea created from decent sources by absolutely horrible technique - I had no idea how to use PSP's layers and masks, so it's all eraser work and merging as layers appeared. It was also my first advanced trophy.

In my own opinion, the best -while not awfully impressive- was a B2B work Dogfight. Techically it turned out to be closest to what I originally visioned.
I can guess what it is.

As a Worth1000 administrator, what's it like working for Jax? Does he come into the admin forum and start yelling alot? Plus and minuses...and don't worry, Jax hardly makes it around these forums anymore, so you can be completely open and honest.

Why is it your the only Worth admin that still comes around here on a regular bases? Do you just not have enough to do over there? What do you do over there, by the way? My apologies if it's obvious, but for a while I've only popped over there occasionally to see if anybody's added any of my crap to their favorites. :)

What do you like least about living in Canada? Is this a permanent move or temporary?

Do you now regret the Eeyore photo? Wished you'd had a Tigger doll handy, instead? Some other? If so, what?

And finally, are you worried about the current state of America? Any suggestions?

Here you go, Quark maker
I used to know this guy who made his own yogurt and figured there has got to be some kind of Quark-making device.
Oh, and I don't know why, but I thought you would say the Bread isle.

Favorite USB toy?
I'm not big on geek stuff. I have strong dislike for computers and everything related, despite, or because, I work with them every day.

My favourite USB device is my external 300Gb USB/SATA hard drive.
Anime or Looney Toons?
Neither. These days my favourite cartoon is Toopy and Binoo (on Treehouse TV).
What do you drive?
I used to drive Saabs. They don't have a dealership in Saskatchewan, so it wasn't practical to get one here. I currently drive a 2005 Chevy Malibu. Built on shared GM platform with Saab 9-3, it's the closest to a Saab I can get to at the moment :)
Tried any extreme sports?
Unless Nordic Walking for 45km alongside a busy highway counts, no.

Working with Jax is sort of a combination of fun and frustration :) He's a fun guy (as those who have been at Worth for a few years perhaps still remember) but 99.999% he's extremely busy with two billion projects he's working on.

Worth admins generally work among themselves in a weird mixture of anarchy and democracy. We try to let jax focus on other stuff :)

I work with jax on a non-worth related project too. So far it's been all good :)

Why is it your the only Worth admin that still comes around here on a regular bases? Do you just not have enough to do over there? What do you do over there, by the way? My apologies if it's obvious, but for a while I've only popped over there occasionally to see if anybody's added any of my crap to their favorites. :)
Most Worth admins are probably busy with their site duties, life and other things to dedicate prolonged period of their time here. That goes for me too - in the long run my Plime participation will probably be in short bursts of activity.

I'm a photoshop section admin, as is Norrit and arsi. Although all duties overlap constantly, PS section is my main focus. When I started admining there in '04 I took over the TG contest setup duties from puffnasty, until I burned out :)

I also used to be a juror at freakingnews, worth's "cousin site", but I haven't had time for that for a while now.
What do you like least about living in Canada? Is this a permanent move or temporary?
Taxes apparently take some manual work here which I don't like all that much. In Finland they send you your tax forms pre filled, and all you have to do is check if there's errors. If there is, you correct them and send the forms back, if there isn't, you don't have to do anything.
Do you now regret the Eeyore photo? Wished you'd had a Tigger doll handy, instead? Some other? If so, what?
There's actually more to the story. I got that plushie as a christmas present in 98 (I think) when I was in Canada for the first time. People thought I sounded like Eeyore when I spoke - monotonic, slow rate of speech. Which reflected Finnish lack of pitch variation and my inexperience in spoken english. Since then I've gotten some intonation in my speech, and after years of using it every day I'm just as fast as anyone else here.
And finally, are you worried about the current state of America? Any suggestions?
I think America is going backwards when the rest of the "free world" is (slowly) going forwards as far as civil rights, liberties and progress are concerned.

I think it's a temporary trend and will self correct over time. In large scale of things, it's not very relevant for the rest of the world.

So no, I'm not really worried.
