I remember waking up early as hell about 6:00 every mornin to go to high school and in between the commercials of the cartoons they would show this short cartoon about 5 minutes long called

<-----BATFINK

thats where i learned about him.
the cartoon wsn't that bad but they had a rascist stereotype of asians and i don't remember his name but it was bad now that i think about it.

the cartoons were about 4 minutes long and i know it was made in the 50's and 60's but i liked it anyway

and they kept me going everyday

Because he's smart, funny, and looks good in a dress. Just like Eddie Izzard.

My favourite cartoon has to be the Dilbert comic strip, which I get daily. I can even recognize some of my co-workers playing roles there...

'It's time for Animaniacs; 'cause they're crazy to the max. You'll laugh 'til you collapse....' (I'll have that running through my head for the rest of the day!)

Also a fan of Looney toons (but who isn't?)

THE VENTURE BROTHERS (tv series)
Starting out as a spoof of Johnny Quest style adventure sci-fi, right down to the retro-60's design, VB's complex characters and dark, witty plotting, surprisingly deep yet at the same time satirizing pop culture, make it best animated show on TV.

FACE LIKE A FROG (short)
Just about the weirdest thing you'll ever see. I can't explain it, it's inexplicable.

DARKNESS LIGHT DARKNESS (short)
Jan Svankmajer is the modern master of creepy stop motion (and has been ripped off countless times by music videos) and this was the first thing of his I saw.

THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (movie)
Combines my two great loves, stop motion and the music of Danny Elfman . . . basically, it's a feature-length Oingo Boingo video.

GARGOYLES (tv series)
What a terrific idea - at night, stone gargoyles come to life and fight crime. The continuing plot with soap opera twists and links to mythology and Shakespeare, made a good idea a classic. I would schedule my college classes so as not to interfere with this show. Also BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES. Those were good times.

VISION OF ESCAFLOWNE (tv series)
The anime for people who don't like anime. Escaflowne takes all the usual anime cliches - girl falls into another universe and develops magic powers, giant robots, catgirls, families with dark secrets, genderbending - and make it new and exciting. It was so good that I managed to watch all 26 episodes, subtitled on VHS.

THE LAST UNICORN (movie)
A slightly trippy take on fairytales, and holds up surprisingly well for its age. Just skip the love song sequence, Mia Farrow could not sing her way out of a paper bag.

Cartoon as in animated? Cause my favorite comic is Calvin and Hobbes, hands down. Don't know if it qualifies for this thread, though.

Rocko's modern life.

Pinky and the Brain.
I watched these with my boys as they grew. I found them to be like alternative music...different and cool! I'm an animation freak in real life.
