When I was in high school (young and working out regularly), I used to go to Taco Bell and order their family meal, which was ten tacos (or burritos--your choice!) I'd then get a large drink and sometimes if I was feeling froggy, a double decker taco and/or cinnamon twists. I'd then sit down with a book and eat tacos for the next half hour to 45 mins. It was awesome!

...ah, to be young again.

Luckily I had the metabolism (and the calorie-burning track practice) to make such a lifestyle possible. If I were to try something like that these days though...it would certainly be a disaster.

I am surprised that these things are worse than poutine (for those who don't know it is a Canadian dish originating in Quebec that normally consists of fries, cheese, AND gravy). Could also be the portions used in this article. According to A&W, their large poutine contains 790 calories and 64 grams of fat. I wish I didn't, but I want some now.

This stuff looks scary until you realize that most people eat alot more than 2000 calories a day.

I for example would die on that few calories.

I did a caloric intake analysis for a weightlifting class I took - for my height and weight the average male needs 3200 calories a day, for my activity level, 3400.

I calculated conservatively that I ate 4000 calories that day.

To put this in perspective, professional body builders can eat in excess of 10000 calories (yes that is ten thousand) in a day.

Yes but the average inactive adult/female doesn't need more than 2500

Ooh ooh... have you ever had their Cheesy cream of potato soup? OOOOOH... SO GOOD! Cheesy and creamy, with bits of bacon in it. And they bring it to your table, still boiling... but it tastes so good you eat it anyway. I've still got the scars... scars of deliciousness... and the roof of my mouth.

Does anyone seriously order ANY of those items with the thought "Gee, this is great for my health"? I don't go out to eat often, and I pretty much always either split a meal with my husband or we bring back leftovers--sometimes 2 meals worth of leftovers.

Please, oh please, don't tell me we need a law about this. People NEED to take responsibility for their own behavior!
