"Granny recalled that she had a cake baking in the oven and didn't want it to burn, so she just had to get out"

It seems silly to get up in the middle of the night, get dressed, put on shoes, grab a flashlight, grab a cell phone, get the radio, and sit in your closet. I have been doing it my whole life though. Welcome to Tornado Alley. (Thankfully my closet doesn't lock).

I'm just trying to figure out why you would put a lock on a closet door? It obviously would lock from the outside.

So... that would mean someone was thinking of locking something (or someone?) IN the closet so they couldn't get out??? Sounds kinda weird.

This plays on the same kind of phobia of getting locked in your car trunk. Good thing cars nowadays have that fluorescent lever to let you out.
