I won an "exclusive Alone in the Dark Xbox360" in a contest today. It should arrive within a week.

I have not seen a picutre of the thing so I have no idea if it looks different or just comes with the game.

Now that I am adding the 360 to my video game collection what games should I get? I am a Nintendo go as I usualy go for the party games.

1) How is the DVD playback? Do I need the "DVD kit" or can I get by without it?

2) Xbox Live - Do I need it? Is there a free level?

3) What are the party games of choice? (no plastic instrument games please).

4) What are the ten and younger age games?

5) Are there any good "turn-based" strategy games? I hate RTS games with a passion.

If anyone can find a pic of this "exclusive" system please post it.

1) I think DVD playback comes with the system, unless my roommate bought the DVD playback before I met him....

3) I would suggest Call of Duty 3 (or 4 I suppose) if your idea of a party game is violently killing other people repeatedly.(which my idea of one often is)

Also there is any excellent arcade game you can download for the Xbox 360 live arcade that makes a great party game called Wik. It is very strange and involves swinging on tounges and shoot bugs at the other players. I have spent many hours playing that game, but if your looking for fancy Xbox 360 graphics and complicated gameplay this game would be the wrong one for you.

The Civilization series is the very definition of "a good turn-based strategy game"

They are coming out with a version for the 360:

xbox live:
Xbox Live Silver is free of charge and is included with all SKUs of the console. It allows users to create a user profile, join on message boards, and access Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade and Marketplace and talk to other members. A Live Silver account does not generally support multiplayer gaming; however, some games that have rather limited online functions already, (such as Viva Pinata) or games that feature their own subscription service (eg. EA Sports games) can be played with a Silver account. Xbox Live also supports voice and video communication, the latter a feature possible with the Xbox Live Vision; an add-on USB web camera designed specifically for the Xbox 360. The Gamercard of a player with a Silver account has a silver trim, rather than gold.

Xbox Live Gold has the same features as Silver and includes integrated online game playing capabilities outside of third-party subscriptions. Microsoft has allowed previous Xbox Live subscribers to maintain their profile information, friends list, and games history when they make the transition to Xbox Live Gold. To transfer an Xbox Live account to the new system, users need to link a Windows Live ID to their gamertag on Xbox.com. When users add an Xbox Live enabled profile to their console, they are required to provide the console with their passport account information and the last four digits of their credit card number, which is used for verification purposes and billing. An Xbox Live Gold account has an annual cost of US$49.99, C$59.99, NZD 90.00, GB39.99, or €59.99. As of May 14, 2008, Xbox Live has over 12 million subscribers.

The system usually comes with a month free trial of Live Gold. After that you get silver. With silver you cannot play multiplayer online games. Otherwise you can still download the games and demos from Live Arcade, as well as movies and tv shows.

Another good party game from the arcade is worms. I think one day I stayed up till 5:30 playing it and just this weekend We stayed up till 2:30 playing it.

Call of Duty and Halo 3 are pretty much good party games on Xbox live, or with friends. If you haven't got Xbox live Gold yet, its worth it. (well if your my age and you have time to play it.) Its less then 5 dollars a month (If you live in the US) My dad plays on Xbox live sometimes and he sucks but he still has fun.

Did you get the system yet? Do you like it?

There was a thread for Xbox live gamertags if you have one, i'll go look for it

Just get GTA, really. Just playing that game over at my friends house is really making me want to buy one. I think it's the best video game I've ever played.
