More than 1,500 people have been evacuated from the region surrounding the Chaiten Volcano in Southern Chile.

This is the first time Chaiten has erupted in 9,000 years.

I follow every eruption on the USGS website, but this video is fantastic.

Yes, and fast geology is a rare thing indeed. Impressive eruption, and a good video too. But if I got too close to that volcano, I would develop pretty quickly into a very fast geologist.
