« Nunkii : 9/11 I was in Costa Rica with my Mom. It took us a few days to get back into the states. We saw the news, but it was in Spanish. Our tour guide gave us the info and we didn't talk that whole night.
That must have been surreal to be so far way when that happened.

911 - My father was in New York for a meeting and I was desperately trying to get a hold of him on a telephone. Finally the secretary that answered the phone told me that he had made it to the meeting. This is in the upper west side. He and 3 other guys braved the road trip home to Texas which took about 5 days.

JFK - was not born yet

Moon Landings - was not born yet

Others -

Dessert Storm - I was in 9th grade, Spanish 5 honors class, fighting with the teacher about the correct spanish word for car. This was after I had arrived to the States from Venezuela.

911 - I was asleep and heard all the news when I woke up. I was pretty shocked.

JFK - wasn't born yet.

Moon Landing - wasn't born yet.

Wow, most of the world changing events happened before I was born.

I do remember the Challenger, though I was not quite two. I remember my mom screamed and then cried. I remember wearing a pink panda shirt and no pants. Sometimes I'm amazed at how vividly I can recall early memories.

9-11: I was in grade 12 that year. My alarm clock was set to switch on so the weather forcast was the first thing I heard in the morning, but instead of talking about the weather the radioman said something about a plane crashing into the World Trade Centre. I assumed a Cessna and immediately smashed off of my alarm clock and got ready for school. The second plane hit while I was eating my Shreddies; I had turned on CNN to see wtf the radioman was about, and then the first tower crashed down. When I got to school, a big group of Filipino guys figured that LA would be hit by a plane next, because it was just like the movie Independance Day. I called them idiots, and went to class.

The second tower fell when I got to my physics class. Our teacher wanted us to calculate the velocity of the falling tower. I called him an idiot, left the class and studied for a chemistry exam.

London bombings: I was also in the arctic. I didn't really find out about it until the end of the summer, when I also found out that New Orleans was pretty much flooded. I hate playing 'culture catch-up' at the end of every summer.

1. 911 - Woke up saw the news coverage, only the 1st tower had been hit, they still weren't sure what was going on. I told my roomate (brother-in-law) that it was definitely not an accident. I took my 4 month old son to daycare and went to my job managing a portrait studio. The second plane hit while I was on my way to work. I think we shot 1 or 2 sittings that day. I ended up closing the studio at 3 to go pick up my son, my wife's work let out early as well. The whole retail store was dead all day. I got into a few arguements with other employees because of my political opinions of what our government did to make people hate us that much. In retrospect it may have been insensitive. But I remember that day as the final rending of the country into two distinct groups, the Patriotic, security obsessed right convinced that the US can do no wrong in the world and the world would be a better place with its values impressed upon it, and the "liberties" obsessed, aetheist left, who will forever be hamstringed by its own political correctness and obsession with "freedoms" but lose sight of the fact that no freedom is free. In the end did I think we had it coming to us? No. Could it have been prevented if our foreign policy didn't treat all other cultures and religions as second class? Probably not. Was our knee jerk reaction beneficial? No. Should we have cut Israel loose after the 6 day war? definitely. Should our Israel policy change now?Yes...we should have NO Israel policy if they want to roll over all the Arab Nations? Fine go for it have fun. If the Arab Nations want to ride down on Israel at once, they should be able to defend themselves properly after decades of the benefits of our military technology and financial support.

Challenger: 5th grade change of class from Science to Art...art teacher announced to class "The Challenger blew up" and we like you mean "It went up" and she was like "no, BOOM it BLEW up" then she started class like nothing happened.

The rest I wasn't alive for.

Really? I'd rather play catch-up than stay updated in the summers. While I appreciate internet access in camp now (last summer was a treat), I kind of like how the world can change without notifying me.

9/11-- was in the navy. my sub was in a refit period so I went to the boat buisness as usual. next thing you know i was told to grab my rifle and sit on this building( the tallest one on the pier-its shaped like a triangle) with 2 marines in the freezing snow/rain. I was the boats sharpshooter/sniper and the only one on the pier. I sat there for 11 hours with a half pack of smokes watching 2 guy see who can hit each other in the stomach harder. it was a odd day.

2 and 3? Um... In the spirit realm?

For 9/11, I was sleeping off a hangover in a ghetto camp trailer behind my boyfriend's sister's father-of-her-children's house. When we woke up and turned on the radio....

Here's a recent story for y'all. One of my clients just saw the Flight 93 movie on a homevisit. He wast talking about it at breakfast the next morning he was home, and at some point we realized that he had NO idea the events had "actually" occurred.
