I'm getting a raise starting in April because my bosses finally realized that I can do alot more than they'd been giving me credit for. Yay for me!

I'm a little late on this one, but the last time I had a cigarette was 53 weeks ago.

So today would be a year without any nicotine at all.

I wonder when the cravings will subside.

Don't listen to hoosker.

After 23 years, it will be a year smoke free for me come the beginning of August.

Maybe it was the Chantix, but I rarely have cravings. Usually after a stressful situation. That's about it. You have to admit they have slowed down over the last year.

I smoked for 25 years. I haven't had a smoke since Feb, 1999. But I still crave them... all the time

I think that's what I have to look forward to.

I don't want to smoke, but I do want the cigarettes.

These pretend cigarettes have appeared recently and the small voice of addiction was there in the back of my mind trying to tempt me into getting one.

If you don't mind me rambling on for a minute on this,
In the 25 years of smoking I quit many times. Once I started smoking a cigar, once it was a pipe, I would say, "Oh, a cigar or pipe is different then a cigarette"...soon I would be smoking cigarettes again.

Or, I would have some drinks with friends, someone would start to smoke and I would ask for one...end up buying a pack the next morning.

Or, I would bury a close friend or family member, or really, any number of difficult personal times would have me telling myself, "f**k it, I need a cigarette."

I'm the personality type that doesn't want to have anything so controlling over my life. To me it was a huge character flaw I had, and the only way to quit was to tell myself that I could never have a cigarette...period, and to do that I could never smoke anything cigarette like, and never let difficult times give an excuse.

It's hard... all the time, it's hard. I wish I was like Alton, but honestly, every single person I know that has quit has told me the same thing as I have said. "I still crave them!"

So I think I know how you feel pock, and I wish you the best of luck. You need to be here on planet Earth as long as possible. You need to enjoy the generations of pocks, pock offshoots, the niece pocks, and the nephew pocks that will come.

Not at all - interested to hear. One condition though - I get to do the same.

I wasn't until I quit this time - I had various goes at it when I was younger, but the two flaws then were that I didn't want to quit, and that I didn't understand what it meant to be addicted.

Since quitting this time I understand it a lot better, and can see it my friends who still smoke.

To me it was a huge character flaw I had, and the only way to quit was to tell myself that I could never have a cigarette...period, and to do that I could never smoke anything cigarette like, and never let difficult times give an excuse.
I've a similar thing, but I've externalised it. A couple of friends would take the piss mercilessly if I quit, and that's my incentive - I know that the longer I stay off the cigarettes the more it will annoy them.

Yeah, I know, annoying someone is a strange reason to quit, but if it works, it works.

It's hard... all the time, it's hard. I wish I was like Alton, but honestly, every single person I know that has quit has told me the same thing as I have said. "I still crave them!"

I'm proud to say that my Evil Death Glare still works.

I was out shopping with my brother yesterday, and after a blabby salesboy said something which I felt was almost inappropriate in front of someone I didn't want to hear it, I shot him the Evil Death Glare. It wasn't just a quick Evil Death Glare, either, I turned the small, uncomfortable silence into a staredown.

He turned 6 shades of white and his smile inverted.

Even though it was an awkward situation, I felt pretty good about the fact that my Evil Death Glare is that effective.

First, you must elaborate. Second, you're gonna have to provide a photo of said glare.

I've actually built up an immunity to both, because I've received both so many times. It doesn't bother me.
