Overweight kids face widespread stigma
Overweight children are stigmatized by their peers as early as age 3 and even face bias from their parents and teachers, giving them a quality of life comparable to people with cancer. picked by AutumnLotus 1 year ago

This is news?

Really I don't understand how you get a fat kid. They are freaking kids, you are in charge of their lives as well as their diets.

Funny thing, 'common' perceptions... a little over a century ago, 'over' weight people were considered attractive, as it was a sign that they had enough $ they could afford to be so...

don't want to be stigmatized? Go on a diet.
(of course kids being kids, you'll be stigmatized no matter what. It is just a matter of why you are being stigmatized)

Think teachers are biased against you because you're fat? Do something called studying and don't try to put your failure to do well in school on "bias"

Stigmatized by their own parents? I agree with gammerus, if you are the parent and the child is overweight, you might want to readjust what you are feeding them. Catering (no pun intended) to their every whim might not be the right thing to do. Again, another story on putting fault into something other than the actual cause.
