Short of not posting the story at all, I tried to be as respectful as possible - having a son that age myself.

Can someone explain to me why the incident with the Tower of Power has anything at all to do with this incident? I really, really hope the parents of this teen dont decide to sue Six Flags. It is NOT the parks fault that the teen climbed, not one, but TWO fences into a restricted area. If the parents sue, and win, I will lose what faith I have left in the justice system.

I agree, the park doesn't seem to be at fault here. I have a feeling they won't sue - we'll see.

I was there today and was heading over to that ride when it happen(it was on the batman ride). I also hope that they don't sue along with the people that witnessed it, but chances are some one will sue and cost the 6 flags a lot of money

"RESTRICTED AREA. DO NOT ENTER"
Means just that. ANYONE should have seen this coming. I am not blaming anyone directly *cough, the parents* (because really such education should take place in the home) But really come on, those signs are not there for anyones amusement and do mean exactly what they say.
He lost his head because of a hat that he could have easily replaced with allowance money. Plain and simple. It is called natural selection.

My parents or my upbringing had nothing to do with the crazy s**t I would do. Maybe it's more of a guy thing...I don't know.

Restricted can hold many meanings to a kid. One of which, might simply mean: Only people who work here should be back here. It might not equate DANGER. What is dangerous about a fence? I can clear it before the ride reaches me. Who knows what this kid was thinking. Maybe the hat was special. Maybe they didn't have money to simply replace it and he would get in trouble. We will never know the answer to these questions.

All the different news sites were speculating about the reasons they were back in there. Some said it was a dare to touch the ride. Having worked at a Six Flags years ago, I used to have to go under a coaster after hours and collect all of the valuables dropped and there were plenty. Maybe he wasn't after his own hat, but they could have been looking to score hats, expensive sunglasses, cameras, wallets, money, etc. You find it all.
I am sure that the friend who was with him at the time will never do it again.
