And now, a real-life story for you... WARNING, If you gag easily, read no further. A patient came into our psych hospital who had an intense odor about him. Bathing him repeatedly didn't relieve it, and other patients refused to room with him b/c of the odor. He "coded" (behaviorally) several times over the next couple of weeks because he couldn't escape the smell (we couldn't, either). Finally, his sister mentioned that he had outpatient sinus surgery several weeks earlier. We sent him to our medical clinic, where the putrid packing in his sinuses was immediately removed. (Aren't you glad you weren't present for that!) The patient then improved so rapidly that he was able to be discharged a few days later.
