Met Claire.

Strangely enough there are people I know who still do not have internet access.

What have you gained that you wouldn't have if you did not have the internet?

Cookies!!!!!!!!

Not those kind of cookies, mavens!

Also I'm pretty sure I'd have never seen midgets doing the nasty dance, goatse guy, or an array of other nastiness. Come to think of it mavens cookies are probably the only good thing that's come from my internet access :D

*edit* To add, I only got teh internetz 3 years ago, before that I'd never used a computer apart from simple task at work. This probably accounts for my childish enthusiasm for things that that are old news to most people :)

If it wasn't for the internet I wouldn't have found out today that my auntie has cancer. I would have had to wait a few weeks until I'm off work.

If it wasn't for the internet I wouldn't be goofing off right now instead completing the exciting and death-defying task of "comparing all the items we converted in the 14 go-live to how many DO NOT have category data in the 000 org."

About Plime
Plime is an editable wiki community where users can add and edit weird and interesting links. Users earn karma when other users vote on their actions. The more karma you have, the more power you have at Plime.

The internet gives me something that I don't have in life. Confidence. I have a much easier time talking with people on the internet than I do in real life.

I also recently was able to order a short sleeved white button down shirt for my son. That particular article of clothing is next to impossible to find. He insists on wearing his "white shirt" to church every Sunday. Most nice dress clothes don't start for boys until they are about 7 it seems, based on what I have seen at stores.

I acquired tickets to the FINAL Genesis concert last year online as part of Lark's retirement from 20 years and 9 months of service in the Coast Guard.

The internet can be a good place.

If it wasn't for the internet:

-My parents would still be together

-A pedophile wouldn't have come down from Canada to try and get me when I was 12(long ass story and no it wasn't DEP)

-I'd still have a good $20,000 in my bank account and not have to worry about people I knew stealing my credit cards and charging them out the ass causing me to be in debt

The only GOOD thing to come out of the internet for me is Plime, AFF, and DevArt.

If it wasn't for the internet:

I wouldn't be able to keep in contact with all the people I have met over the years in the many different places I have lived and my family across the country as easily.

I wouldn't have been able to get a great price for airline tix today to go visit my ailing grandmother.

I would actually be doing work at work instead of messin' around on Plime and other sites.

I wouldn't be able to talk to leeh and MM on AIM all frackin' day.

If it wasn't for the internet.....

-I might still have religion.

-I never would have found Plime.

-I would still be very closed minded.

-I would never have seen the eels video, 4girlsfingerpainting, or 2girls1cup. (Which would have been a good thing)

-I would never have found rotten.com, or snuffx.com.

-I wouldn't be into art or video editing.

I found an awesome group of Pit Bull owners several years ago. We met on one large forum, broke off and started our own, and 5+ years later we're all really good friends. We've made trips to see each other, we send each other Christmas cards, send gifts for special occasions, and we often take up collections when one of us has a hefty vet bill. It's kind of weird to say that some of my closest friends are definitely online.

So if it wasn't for the internet, and the fact that I unexpectedly came to own a Pit Bull, I would have missed out on a wonderful group of friends.

This reminded me that we wouldn't have our Bull terrier if it wasn't for the internet. My wife joined an online forum for a group called BIN, Bullies In Need. We adopted him through them.

So if it wasn't for the internet we wouldn't have the great dog we have now :D

I wouldn't stay in touch with near the people I do with email. I HATE snail mail.

I wouldn't have found the plethora of information and cool stuff using Google.

I would probably have ruptured my brain many times over trying to remember who played what in what movie. (Which goes back to Google and IMDB.com)

I wouldn't have found Plime.

AND I wouldn't have found my totally cool, for real wrought iron canopy bed. (and matching nightstands) Ever since I was a little girl, I always wanted a canopy bed. (My canopy isn't draped like this, but this is the bed style I got. I swooned when I saw it on the website.) :)

And if not for the internet, I would not have the amazing self satisfaction of knowing that somewhere in the Midwestern United States, there is a guy that seriously wants a banjo. And that is because of me. To influence someone to play the banjo is a life changing event. From Maude to me to Smarty!
