It's pretty amazing how far robotics technology has evolved. I remember watching an old episode of "Scientific American Frontiers" (from the 90's I believe) that was about scientists/engineers who were trying to create a bipedal robot. The robot that was featured was big, bulky and would tip over rather easily.

I think life-like androids are a bit creepy though.

with the economy all bad and stuff isn't spending money on robots that aren't really going to be used on anything kinda pointless? we're having job shortages.. and they're building robots that they want to work alongside and/or replace humans.. hmmm?

Developers said the robot may be used in amusement parks or to perform simulations of human movement, as an exercise instructor, for instance.

200,000 for an exercise instructor? riiight
