The kids that loved her grew up, so she is too, what's the problem?

A tramp? I didn't see that, did you?

Parents freak out about little things way too often...

Dora is growing up with her generation. If parents are worried that they have younger children in the house then that is what the Dora reruns are for.

Parents need to grow up!

It seems like the fuss is b/c they made the older dora a skinnier version or at least tahts what I got out of it by the comparisson of her to a Bratz doll. I still don't see a problem here. Everyone says theres a problem with childhood obesity but then when things try to get away from that people complain and say it's too controversial and wrong, I dont get it..

No no no. I read a different article.

The reason parents, etc., got all fussy was the silhouette they released made it look like Dora was wearing a really short skirt with loooong legs (see the "comparison" link in the story).

But she's wearing a tunic shirt with tights. Very 10-year-old appropriate.

And they aren't getting rid of the other Dora. These are side-by-side releases; the little kids will still have little Dora, older kids will have an older Dora. Most of the time, they just have the character get older. It's different for Mattel to have both available.

See the full illustration here.

What happened is parents saw the silhouette and jumped to conclusions without all the information. Things are calming down now that they have released the full illustration.

My only problem with what the new Dora appears to be is the same as it is for all other girl dolls for that age range - the short skirt! My girls, ages 8 and 11, don't wear dresses that short, and have no desire to, and most other "Tweenagers" (God, I hate that term) I've seen in my 11 yr old's classes don't dress like that either.

I couldn't care less that Dora's getting older - the Rugrats did the same thing a few years ago and civilization didn't colapse.

EDIT: I just saw lynxears' link and agree that there's nothing wrong with Dora's new look, or outfit.

she doesn't look to bad, but they did make her awfully hot for a tween.

She looks fine. Lots of 10-year-olds look generally like that, really.

Besides, I'd much prefer my imaginary 10-year-old daughter play with a tween Dora than Barbie or a Bratz doll. Talk about a hussy.

That's not a dress shes wearing. It's a baby doll shirt. You know, one of the latest trends including skinny jeans and the sort.

I don't see a problem with the tweenager Dora.

i agree that i don't see any thing wrong with the new dora. i think eveyone is jumping to conclusions. let's actually see the show first and decide what's good and bad. This should be interesting to say the least.
