Christopher Rogers is on trial for murder. David Weber is defending Mr Rogers. Mr Weber asks that the court ignore Mr Rogers' confession because the murders were really committed by aliens.

Two theories. Number one - David Weber is the cheapest legal counsel in all of Alaska and this is him doing his very best.
Number two - David Weber realises that he hasn't a hope in hell of winning this one and has decided to have a little fun with it.
