Identity of woman who kept elephant in her back yard revealed
A Belfast woman who cared for a baby elephant in her back garden during the war years has finally been identified.

The ‘elephant angel’ was Denise Weston Austin, who was one of the first female zoo keepers in Belfast Zoo.

Sheila managed to stay hidden due to the large walls which surrounded the house, and zoo staff were not aware of her second home until she chased a dog into a neighbours garden, breaking the fence.
There's tea on my keyboard now.

Can you imagine looking out of your back window and seeing an elephant chasing a dog?

(tgkprog, if you read this one my feeling is that you might find it easier to imagine than some of the rest of us as there are elephants on the continent where you live).
