11 Year Old Plants Razor Blade On Playground Slide
11 Year Old Plants Razor Blade On Playground Slide
Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested an 11-year-old child for allegedly rigging a razor blade on a children’s sliding pond at a playground in Pleasant Valley.

When a six-year-old slid down that slide on March 24, the child sustained a laceration that required 30 stitches to close. picked by suebe 8 months ago

a) Why would the 11 yo even think to do something like that?

b) Shouldn't he have been supervised more closely?

It's a f'ed world.

Bad parents.

You can't really watch kids that closely. Something like that only takes a few seconds to do and a razor blade is so small, unless you are standing on top of the kid you'd never see what he did.

It's a f'ed world.
Yes it is.

Because our world is FUBAR. I have no clue, really.

After doing a few things that could have nearly killed someone I feel like I should say something. When I was a little kid I played all sorts of pranks without realizing the full consequences of my actions.

I think it is entirely possible that this kid thought it would be funny to maybe give someone a a good scratch without realizing how much damage those can cause.

I also say this as someone who "accidentally" melted two school recycling bins to the ground because I underestimated the consequences of putting a flaming piece of paper into a paper recycling bin

I am really hoping you are right and this was not maliciously contrived to cause a lot of harm.

--I think back to when we put all manner of things onto the train tracks to see what would happen when the trains went over them, (even though we had been told this could derail the trains)..
--or when we tried to run across the train bridge spanning the St. John river before the train caught up knowing that if it reached us we would have to jump off the trestle into the river 50 feet below.. and oh yes, the river was almost a mile wide at that spot..
--or when we took the playground merry go round off its pedestal to use it to launch kids 10 feet into the air by getting Bubba to jump onto the raised edge,
--or when we ran along underneath the blow from the snowblower going down the road, and sometimes got buried by it until our friends dug us out..

I could go on.. Kids can be dumb. Kids can be mean. This was very sad for both kids.

Ahhhhh! I can't watch the video. The preview showing it on the slide was enough.

God that would hurt. I know that would hurt. 30 stitches? Oh jeebus.

I didn't pull dangerous crap like this when I was a kid because I would have gotten myself in serious physical trouble. I still think the meanest creature on this planet is a 13-year-old girl. Lucky for the rest of us, they tend to just be mean to eachother.

OMFG and s**t. I hope, if and when I become a parent, I never have to deal with anything this terrifying on either side. I wouldn't react well.
