Bill O'Reilly, FOX News: No apology for Hornbeck famliy
After more than three weeks after saying Shawn Hornbeck must have had "fun" with his kidnapper and that's why "he didn't escape," O'Reilly and FOX won't apologize. picked by indierockcafe 3 years ago

I know all about the Stockholm syndrome and everything but O'Reilly has a point. I think the kid really hated his parents based on the blog entries he wrote on the website that his parents created for him after his disappearance.

Ya, I know that the sex stuff is disgusting and sick - and the O'Reilly is a pompous ass but I just don't think that the kid really felt like he wanted to go home. I don't think that he "had fun" but his captivity did have some pluses - no school, no (dysfunctional?) parents, as much TV as he wanted - all things that appeal to an 11+ year old.

I just think that somebody better look deeply into the poor kid's home life.

I don't know about what went on while he was kidnapped, or what he engaged in, I will say two things. If he wanted to escape he could have and he and his family has certainly cashed in because of the kidnapping. They have turned the event into a nice money-maker for them. Kind of a sick thing if you ask me.

The kid had a xbox live account and actively played halo2 along with other games.. and was seen riding his bike around the community and playing with other kids outside.. sounds like fun to me..

There's obviously a lot more going on than any of us will know at this point. O'Reilly just said what many people are thinking... (and probably should have known better)

The thing that really made me say "WOW" about this story, was when I read that Shawn Hornbeck actually posted on a website his step-father had set up to help look for him. His post said, "How long do you think you'll keep looking for your son?" Under the name 'Shawn Devlin'... that's his first name, and his kidnapper's last name.

Either way you slice it, something is very strange about this story... and the FOX haters and O'Reilly bashers just used this to anger their masses. It's dishonest and reprehensible... but not surprising.
