If you're going to build a nest out of cigarette butts, go for the ones without the red glowing ends. picked by pocksucket 7 months ago

I'm surprised the bird would pick it up.

I can't imagine it would just sit there - though they never do say.

Careless smoker throws still light cig. - litters and starts a fire when a bird moved it ....

The other slightly less known way cigarettes are harmful to your health; birds might use them against you.

If I could upvote that twice I would.

I'm assuming the sparrow is fine, as it would probably have decided to fly away when its house started smouldering.

What baffles me is how they got to this conclusion. Just because they found all these cigarette ends, it must have been a burning one. I mean it's possible and improbable at the same time. What's even more interesting is that the sparrow decided to use only cigarette butts. Were there SO MANY in the area or something?

I'm concerned for the bird, but I'm bothered by the thought that there must be way too many people smoking nowadays that it decided to use the butts for its nest.
