I agree that Donohue is a blowhard but I have to admit that he has a point about it being OK to dump on Catholics and Christianity...

They're probably the only "group" left, that you can s**t all over without the media getting up in arms, calling you a bigot, and demanding that you go into therapy.

I was brought up Catholic. I never thought of myself as black, gook, Mexican, etc. Religion and ancestry are apples and oranges in my book.

I hear ya' and I was brought up Catholic as well but after the age of 12, I never really went to church much. I have my own beliefs (and I keep them to myself).

The only point I'm trying to make is that I think it's pretty hard to find an example of where someone is getting blasted in the media for saying something un-PC about the Christian faith - say it about anything else and it's front page news for a week.

I think it goes roughly like this: in general, religions whose members are mainly the same race and similiar culture as you, are ok to mock. Such as any flavour of Christianism, Satanism, Scientology, Atheism et cetera.

If you take a punch at a religion that is mainly "foreign", such as Buddhism or Islam, it can be seen as racist (or "culturally racist", for lack of better word).
