Texas to revert Social Studies education to the dark ages
Texas to revert Social Studies education to the dark ages
Perhaps I exaggerate, but the Texas State Board of Education is about to create a panel of experts to oversee the creation of their next social studies curriculum "that includes absurdly unqualified ideologues who are hostile to public education" and believe, for example, that wildfires and hurricanes are divine punishments for tolerance of homosexuality picked by equinox 7 months ago

Homosexuality is a sin, after all. It's about time for the so-called "traditional sciences" to finally accept that.

I really don't believe this. Not that it is beyond the legislature to do that, but they *just* tightened the science requirements to exclude anything but evolution.

And I would have heard about it, from somewhere other than an oppositional organization.

Agree, it seems like just far far too much to be true. Typical of any extremist group to make the opposition look totally insane.

If the Texas State Board would do this, it would be SEVERELY unconstitutional. This will not happen, and it might even be criminal. Which would mean the end of the current board of education.

Also, Obama recently announced he wants to make sure that SCIENCE dictate what is taught, not ideologies.

To think that I thought that our history classes were lacking just a year or so ago. Four years of American History regardless of what the class was called. This however is just depressing.

This sounds quite like the second half of a book I'm reading right now. Steven Baxter's Titan.
