Well to be fair, that is pretty much what that magazine is about.

Page after page about some actors pet peeve or bunion operation and how they are coping, while a scientist, hero, social worker, might be lucky to get a half page story.

Bleh - no thanks.

This is not about beauty, its about idol worship. To satisfy any criticism of their collection they must include the commoners and the 180lb, size 14 "fat" people, but they can be safely ignored while the ravening populace gluts themselves on their idolic indulgance.

Think about how Susan Boyle took crap when all she did was get a hair cut - The people don't want commoners to become idols, Americans and a good portion of the world sadly, wants to idolize thin, rich, white, American celebrities. We are impoverished of spirit as a species. If we could only truly idolize the selfless humanitarians of our world instead of entertainers we would sure be headed in the right direction.

I would disagree that these people don't need people. Other people are who made these folks celebrities.

Agreed. They are only celebrities or 'popular' because everyone else thinks they are.

People Magazine discussing the concept of beauty is like a caricaturist trying to draw it.

If I had their budget I am sure I would look beautiful too. Beauty on the inside is far more fantastic than any plastic, botox, or enhancement that they have.

I don't know a great deal of the people who made this list, but I do know names like Mother Teresa and (more recently) Sully.

We do worship our heroes no matter where they come from. The problem is the media gets themselves in a frenzy trying to tear down anyone who approaches 'heroism'. Michael Phelp's story on the pages wasn't about how he was a great athelete, but how once.. way back years ago... he might or might not have taken a hit of pot. OMG! Stop the presses!

Frankly, I find more beauty in a snowflake than I do in a diamond. Perhaps I'm just old fashioned, but most of these people seem gaudy and greedy to me.

I loved the little joke in Wall-e, where the little guy picks up a diamond ring in its jewel box, does a little wolf whistle, then chucks the ring, and snaps the box open and shut a few times before putting it in his "keeper" container.
