I don't mean the fact that it cost more than $4000 to take a simple rape kit I imagine doctors need to make 100000% profit margins. Actually all joking aside it is obscene that a mere rape kit would cost so much money. Surely the police or government has medical people that could take the samples and analyze them a lot cheaper.<br/><br/>What I don't understand is why is the victim expected to pay for the giving of evidence? Why is anyone other than the police, prosecutor or government agency expected to pay to obtain evidence?<br/><br/>I wouldn't expect the police or government to automatically pay for any medical treatment or any other service that was a result of the crime against her but the victim shouldn't have to pay to obtain the evidence to convict her.
