The laws of thermodynamics are present here, she can't get that weight by eating the amount of food necessary to meet her daily expenditure. These people have fed her obscene amounts of food in order for this to have happened. Genetics plays a part but this made me angry.

I agree, unless there is some sort of medical problem, the parents should be charged with child abuse, this is akin to murder. She will probably die quite young.

I agree with all the comments. This is exploitation at it's worst. This should never be seen except for medical reasons.(but, enquiring "Americans" want to know)

it is child abuse and that is ridiculous. the parents must not care at all. Its horrible :( the girl is only seven. She doesn't understand, but the parents do and they didn't do anything about it.

That is so horrible. I understand that there is a condition that a person can have that makes them unable to feel full, or even satisfied, but that is ridiculous. That girl should be taken away from her parents, because obviously they have failed to care for her in the proper way due to her special needs.

It's good that things like this get her support and medical care she would otherwise not have got, but seems like sensationalism on the part of the TV show.

Agreed... that is why I described it as tabloid exploitation. I have seen similar stories on The Learning Channel, The Health Network and other channels where it was presented in a much more dignified manner - not sensational, just informative.

Why didn't anyone intervene earlier? Did they have to wait until she was 400 pounds before they put her on a diet??

Poor girl, but maybe there's another explanation for her obesity. A study by researchers at the University of Washington has shown that some obesity may be caused by a virus. That's why in the last decade the percentage of obese children and adult has doubled.. Anyways, her parent should put her on a diet before she topped 400 pounds!

Who bought her all that food to eat? I don't know of that many kids who go to the store, buy food and fix it for their selves.
